Judge Hannah Dugan, Convicted of Concealing an Illegal Alien From ICE, Just Got Bad News From the Court – RedState

Remember former Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan? She was accused of helping an illegal alien from Mexico — Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, who was investigating domestic violence charges in the state — sneak out a side door of the courthouse in April 2025 to avoid Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. Although the moment was infamously caught on camera, she claimed she was “immune” from prosecution due to her high position.
This argument did not fare well, and a federal jury convicted her of felony obstruction in December of that year. She was temporarily suspended by the Wisconsin Supreme Court in April 2025 and retired in January 2026 following her conviction.
His situation did not improve on Monday because a federal judge rejected his request to overturn the conviction:
U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman issued a 39-page order on April 6, rejecting the appeal by Dugan’s legal team and also rejecting the claim that she was immune from such suits.
“Having studied the case law, I have concluded that there is no general rule of criminal immunity for judges, nor basis for granting immunity simply because some of the allegations in the indictment described conduct that could be considered ‘part of a judge’s job,'” Adelman wrote.
🚨 BREAKING: A court has officially DENIED disgraced left-wing judge Hannah Dugan’s appeal of her felony conviction where she tried to help an illegal alien evade DHS agents to avoid deportation.

She helped an illegal SCURRY out the back door, but security cameras caught the whole thing. There’s no running away from this one.

Dugan had argued that she was above the law:
Dugan filed a motion to dismiss, arguing that she had “absolute judicial immunity” and that the prosecution had violated the Constitution’s separation of powers by “encroaching on the authority of state judges to manage their own courtrooms and proceedings.”
Yeah, not so much, Justice Adelman replied in his Monday ruling. Not only did he say there was no “general rule of criminal immunity for judges,” but he also argued that Dugan acted outside of his normal duties as a judge in helping Ruiz escape.
The Democrats have gone completely crazy over the lawsuits, as has the liberal press, even though it proclaims daily that “no one is above the law.” No one except them, apparently.
Do you remember that?
A court has just rejected the appeal of activist judge Hannah Dugan.
His conviction for helping an illegal alien dodge DHS agents and avoid deportation has been officially upheld.

Although Monday’s ruling is a post-trial motion and not a full appellate review by a higher court (like a U.S. appeals court), Dugan’s lawyers wasted almost no time in saying they would continue to litigate the case:
“We continue to maintain that Hannah Dugan acted lawfully and within her independent authority as a judge,” the statement said. “The jury’s inconsistent verdicts demonstrate that the trial was flawed, and we plan to appeal.”
Judge Adelman, who also presided over the original trial, is a Clinton appointee. After some recent rulings by judges appointed by Democratic presidents, it is refreshing to see a judge actually applying the law as intended.
Editor’s note: Democrats are fanning the flames and raising the pitch by comparing ICE to the Gestapo, fascists and the secret police.
