iOS 26 beta 2 seemingly confirms the existence of the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air

Until its launch in September, Apple will not officially recognize the existence of its long -term iPhone 17 air, but the second beta version of iOS 26 already gives us some clues. Hidden in the system code, we have found references to a new display resolution which does not correspond to any current or previous iPhone model, but it corresponds to the disclosed resolution of the iPhone 17 ultra-thin.
As Macworld shows, the second IOS 26 BETA developer, which was published on Monday, includes a new version of the emblematic clownfish wallpaper with a resolution of “420 × 912 @ 3x”, or 1260 × 2736 pixels. There is no iPhone model with such a resolution, at least not yet.
But here is where things become more interesting. The new resolution wallpaper we found corresponds to a report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo last year, who said that the iPhone 17 air would have a screen of about 6.6 inch with a resolution of around 1260 × 2740.
In other words, the wallpaper almost confirms the existence of a new iPhone model with this exact display resolution. Since iOS 26 will almost certainly be released in September with new iPhones, it is clear that Apple already makes the final adjustments for the new generation iPhone.
Since other iOS 26 wallpapers do not have this resolution, most likely, the wallpaper has been forgotten by Apple in the construction published today for developers and should not be seen by the public.
According to rumors, the air of the iPhone 17 will only be 5.5 millimeters in thickness, making it the thinnest iPhone ever released. It should weigh around 145 grams, much less than current iPhones. We hope to get our first active in the new phone during an event in September 2025, but iOS 26 has perhaps just given our first concrete index that the air of the iPhone 17 is real and coming soon.
