Readers sound off on stables real estate, online dangers and bikes on the boardwalk

Who really takes advantage of “saving” the horses?
Manhattan: I lived with horses all my life and I nourished apples with horses from the central park carriage for many years. The truth is that they have never been better taken care of. It is obvious that the powerful real estate companies that covet the properties by the Javits Center for years see an opportunity to seize the stables. They jump each time a horse has an accident or, more recently, the case of the lady who is discouraged by a tumor, to accuse the industry of the ill -treatment cars of her animals.
The Central Park Conservancy was influenced by these same people and said that it should withdraw horses due to overcrowding. For my part, I was crushed from behind by an electric bike, but I was never struck or even crowded by a carriage horse. The drivers are vigilant and take good care of driving in their tracks.
Please throw a more in -depth overview of the real reasons before the beautiful creatures are deleted. They are emblematic and represent a romantic period which gives our city course. They also give not only many people, but horses really need these jobs. Few people understand that these horses will not be bought by academies or even Amish. The stables in a recession are the first to leave. Many carriage horses are former race horses that have these jobs as a second career. Some have a good chance of ending up in dog food. Please do not let the municipal council ring the death knell from these beautiful creatures. Janice Wilde

Bronx: at Voice Glenn Brown: In response to your Maga letter on crime rates, here are facts. The Wikipedia 2024 list of the 200 largest rates of violent crimes in cities shows the 10 largest cities of the lowest rate of rates of violent crimes: San Diego, 76 years old; Las Vegas, 80 years old; Chicago, 109; San Antonio, 120; Dallas, 132; NYC, 134; Los Angeles, 145; Phoenix, 157; Philadelphia, 169; and Houston, 185. Run the figures
Manhattan: Voice Glenn Brown gave President Trump, Gop and Fox News View of Crime, which is not really correct. Using 2023 and 2024 data, cities with the worst crime are Memphis, St. Louis, Baltimore, Detroit, Oakland, Little Rock, Cleveland, New Orleans, Birmingham and Albuquerque. I seem to myself that republican states predominate the list. Daniel A. Greenbaum
Inaccurate anecdotes?
Hillsdale, NY: Every day we hear that the crime is in New York, but every day we read on shots, stabs, attacks, flights and / or rapes in the streets and in metros. I assume that these activities are no longer considered to be crimes and are not included in crime figures. Phil Antico
Power imbalance
Brooklyn: Trump said that the mayor of DC Muriel Bowser, “the mayor must stop giving false crime figures or bad things will happen.” Threats, intimidation, theft of hundreds of classified documents – Congress, let’s go! You have to act! You let this country be transformed into dictatorship. Do you believe in checks and counterweights or not!? Bob Gomez
Midway
Pleasantville, ny: It only has to be a president for seven months. According to the Project 2025 Tracker, the Trump administration has already reached almost 50% of the objectives set in the 2025 project. This is the same plan for the fascist control of our government prepared by the Heritage Foundation which Trump said nothing. Howard Zane
Hustle
Greenville, SC: Great decision of Trump Meeting the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and several world leaders at the White House on August 19 to negotiate a peace agreement with Russia. The Fort Arm of support in Zelenskyy in Washington involved world leaders such as French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Finland President Alexander Stubb. Trump advisers such as vice-president JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were present. This summit occurred after Trump met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska. Hopefully this war between Ukraine and Russia can end very soon. And it is a big decision that Trump launches a bit like a peacemaker in this current conflict. Steven Hawkins
Sweet on Russia
Peters Township, PA. The heat and affection that Trump posted for Putin and the reception of the hero of the red carpet gave him during his visit to Alaska contrasts strongly with Trump’s dressing and the public humiliation of Zelenskyy in the White House six months ago, something for which Trump never apologized and never. Putin is a murderer of criminal war – an adversary of an United States who defended freedom, democracy and human rights. Zelenskyy and his country are the victims of Putin. Our president allows his tenderness of ruthless dictators to put this aside. Oren Spiegler
Prostitute Prez
Queens Village: We all knew that the main pressure of Trump has always been Putin, who promised Donald a tower of Moscow Trump, among other favors. But still waiting for the altar was Trump’s first love. You all remember the love letter from Kim Jong one that Trump could not stop spilling. Donald, you’re just a gigolo! Lawrence Krasner
The example of Humphrey
Bronx: I read Voice Paul Blaustein’s letter. It is interesting to note that he thinks that Democrats should follow the example of Hubert Humphrey. I consider myself a democrat of Humphrey, and I know that Humphrey would be everywhere in this administration and the illegal things she has done. Blaustein then says that DEMS should take a lesson by graciously accepting defeat like Humphrey. Well, tell this to the current president. Martin Sandok
Calm of the Chair
Bronx: Where are our religious and spiritual leaders? Not speaking of crimes against humanity everywhere, but here, enclosing people in cages, places of detention in swamps – men, women and children. How cruel is. We are all children of God. How evil. It is good and evil, not what party it is. Stop mentioning the Bible and approach these acts. It hurts me that these poor people suffer and that the criminals thrive. Julio Rivera
RIP
Middle Village: I wear the sad news that the frequent voice Robert (Bob) Kralick of Glen Head, Li, died on Friday August 15, after a short battle with SLA. His incisive and analytical comments on things in general and environmental / energy policy in particular will be sorely missed. He was a good man, husband, father and pop. Married Jane McCartney
Digital border
Manhattan: As parents in New York, security is still in the lead. Most people know the basics – look in both directions before crossing the street, do not go home at night and never talk to foreigners. But most parents do not think of the uncertainties that our children face when they get online. My children are young, but we already think of their future and what applications could be appropriate to them. Parents must understand the risks associated with age that distorts online. Even if we could be restrictive on how our children use their devices, their friends at school could show them inappropriate content on which we have no control. Fortunately, the APP Store Application Act, a federal bill introduced in May, would provide a solution and centralize the age verification process to prioritize security, confidentiality and positive online experiences. Walking cradles
Delray Beach, Florida: A beautiful Friday after the storm, I thought I would take a tour of the Rockaways to see the waves of the promenade. By the concession and the bathrooms was a very big sign: “Bikes must dismantle.” Very few did it. In fact, a moron has passed so quickly that he had to think that he was in the Tour de France! I am sure that if an officer was there to give tickets, he would cry. Let’s face it, most of you are a threat to the roads. You do what you want and when something happens, you cry. Obviously obey the rules and maybe the public will learn to accept you. Manny Agostini
