Discovery of insects trapped in amber sheds light on ancient Amazon rainforest

Scientists discovered prehistoric insects kept in Amber in South America for the first time. This amber has been found in an equator career and contains old insects, pollen and trees of trees dating from 112 million years. The results provide information on life on Earth just when flowering plants have started to spread and diversify. The most famous amber deposits of the 130 million years are in the northern hemisphere, which makes this discovery important. The researchers will continue to analyze the Amber to find out more about the old beetles, flies, ants and wasps. The study was published Thursday in the journal Communications Earth and Environment.
