23rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office reports guilty pleas for Feb. 23-27

The 23rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office, which includes Ascension, Assumption and St. James parishes, announced guilty pleas during the week of Feb. 23-27.

The information was obtained through the office of 23rd Judicial District Attorney Ricky Babin.

Ascension Parish

  1. Dryan Dupre, 1378 Windsor Dr. Baton Rouge, LA, 37, pleaded guilty to theft valued at $5,000 or more but less than $25,000 and was sentenced to 8 years in prison with credit for time served, suspended and 5 years supervised probation.

  2. Rustin Wheat, 43502 Oak Ln Gonzales, LA, 34, pleaded guilty to domestic violence – child endangerment and was sentenced to 3 years in prison by the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended and placed on supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Christopher Carter and Blake Sheets. The Honorable Judge Cody Martin presided over these cases.

Assumption Parish

  1. John Thibodeaux, 6706 Hwy 308 Belle Rose, LA, 45, pleaded guilty to theft valued at $5,000 or more but less than $25,000 and promoting a pyramid promotional scheme. Sentencing was postponed to a later date pending a pre-sentencing investigation.

  2. Victoria Courville, 2815 Lafiton Lane Port Allen, LA, age 29, pleaded guilty to possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance and was sentenced to 2 years in prison by the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, suspended and supervised probation for 2 years.

  3. Arian Wiggins, Baton Rouge, LA, 28, pleaded guilty to possession of a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance and possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years in prison by the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, suspended and placed on supervised probation for 2 years.

  4. Ronald Vallejo, 187 Violet St. Labadieville, LA, 35, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance and was sentenced to 5 years in prison by the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

  5. Demeters Miller, 3376 Back Marais Napoleonville, LA, 52, pleaded guilty to possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance and was sentenced to 2 years in prison by the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

  6. Jeremy Dipuma, 14165 Jefferson Hwy Baton Rouge, LA, 42, pleaded guilty to distribution, manufacture or possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance and possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years in prison by the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, suspended and placed on supervised probation for 2 years.

  7. Erick Brunner, 107 Melissa St. Labadieville, LA, 41, pleaded guilty to possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance (2 counts) and was sentenced to 18 months in prison by the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, suspended and placed on supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney and presided over by the Honorable Judge Keyojuan Turner.

  1. Rico Askins, 253 Hwy 400 Napoleonville, LA, 32, pleaded guilty to domestic violence by strangulation and was sentenced to 18 months in prison by the Louisiana Department of Corrections, with credit for time served.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets presided over this case.

Saint-James Parish

  1. Alajuwon Jackson, 14401 Courtney Road. Walker, LA, 36, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute marijuana or synthetic cannabinoids and was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, suspended and 3 years of supervised probation.

  2. Casper LeBlanc, 3355 Amy St. Paulina, LA, 27, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a firearm and was sentenced to 5 years in prison by the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, suspended and placed on supervised probation.

  3. Colen Johnson, 1521 Grant St. Laplace, LA, 38, pleaded guilty to distribution of crack cocaine and was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, suspended and placed on supervised probation for 3 years.

  4. Kalvin Scioneaux, 6278 Burtin Lane. St. James, LA, 71, pleaded guilty to possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance and was sentenced to 2 years in prison by the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

  5. Shantell Scott, 9649 Jefferson St. Laplace, LA, 41, pleaded guilty to automobile insurance policy fraud and was sentenced to 2 years in prison by the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, suspended and placed on supervised probation for 2 years.

  6. Tyrean Harry, 7354 Freetown St. St. James, LA, 29, pleaded guilty to attempted possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and was sentenced to 2 years in prison by the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

  7. Keith Southerland, 8209 Mill St. St. James, LA, 55, pleaded guilty to failure to register and notify as a sex offender or child predator. Sentencing was postponed to a later date pending a pre-sentencing investigation.

  8. Mandarrel Walter, 2542 East Lebray St. Lutcher, LA, 21, pleaded guilty to Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Unlawful Carrying of Weapons – Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts). Sentencing was postponed to a later date pending a pre-sentencing investigation.

  9. Wilson Gaines, 2428 W Lebray St. Lutcher, LA, 64, pleaded guilty to illegal possession of stolen firearms. Sentencing was postponed to a later date pending a pre-sentencing investigation.

  10. Djwauna Early, 225 East 14th Gramercy, Los Angeles, 34, pleaded guilty to illegal possession of stolen firearms and was sentenced to 2 years in prison by the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, suspended and 2 years of supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Adam Koenig, and the Honorable Judge John Smith presided over these cases.
