3 excellent Netflix shows to watch this weekend (March 6

As of early 2026, Netflix in the United States offers nearly 8,000 movie, TV, and special titles, of which approximately 2,300 are shows. That’s a lot of TV to watch, which means a lot of scrolling to find something good.
If you’re looking for recommendations, I have a few for this March weekend, categorized. They include the story of how an 18-year-old racing prodigy without a driver’s license got a seat in a Formula One car, a sci-fi comedy with small-town charm, and a British superhero drama.

The seat
It’s been a very long and excruciating offseason, but the 2026 Formula 1 season is back this weekend in Melbourne, Australia. If you have already watched the new season of Drive to survive and you still need a little something to satisfy your F1 cravings, may I suggest this mini-doc about one of the sport’s up-and-coming drivers, Kimi Antonelli.
The seat is the story of how Mercedes-AMG F1 team principal Toto Wolff decided to give 18-year-old Italian prodigy Kimi Antonelli a seat for the 2025 season, making him the third youngest rookie in F1 history. His rookie season last year may have been water under the bridge – he was at the top of the table, finishing seventh overall, with three podiums and 150 points – but this document highlights the youngster’s rise and the pressure he was about to face in replacing seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton at the legendary Mercedes team.
In The seat, F1 fans will have instant access to Antonelli’s secret conversations with Wolff, interview footage with Wolff himself where he talks about the bright-eyed youngster’s talents and how his family is taking the news of his promotion. If you like Drive to Survive, here’s a quick preview that will give you an insight into one of F1’s most exciting new drivers.

Resident alien
I didn’t see this smart and hilarious sci-fi series when it first aired on the Syfy network in 2021, but I’m really glad it came to Netflix this month. Resident alien there are a few things that I really like. The first two are easy: I love quirky sci-fi shows and anything alien related. The third is Alan Tudyk, an actor and voice actor who made his name on shows like Firefly, but is probably best known as the voice of K-2SO in R.ogue oneand Sonny in meRobots.
Resident alien had me within the first 10 minutes. Tudyk plays the titular alien, a being sent to Earth on a mission to end humanity. But his ship crashes in the Colorado wilderness and he is forced to kill and take the life (and physical form) of Harry Vanderspiegle, a retired doctor living in a remote cabin outside the sleepy town of Patience. When the town doctor is murdered, Harry is called upon to assist in the investigation, forcing him once again to learn about the humans he intends to kill. Tudyk is brilliantly goofy and literal as Harry, who taught himself to speak by watching Law and order rebroadcasts and tries not to blow his cover. But there’s a problem: a young boy in town can see through her disguise.
I’m only halfway through the first of its two seasons available on Netflix (there were four in total), and I’m totally hooked. They’re 44 minutes each, making it easy to watch two or three in one session. Two of its four seasons get 100% critical ratings on RT, with an overall average of 98. If you like cool, funny sci-fi, give it a try while you wait for seasons three and four to arrive.

Supacell
If the recent success of Disney+ Wonderful man All indications are that character-driven superhero shows with a more real, realistic feel are a refreshing change from the shiny, multiverse, caped crusaders we’ve become accustomed to. And if that sounds like your jam, then Supacell is the grounded yet smart and super cool series you need right now.
Created by British filmmaker Rapman (Blue story), Supacell is set in South London and focuses on five ordinary people – a delivery driver named Michael (Tosin Cole), nurse Sabrina (Nadine Mills), struggling father Andre (Eric Kofi-Abrefa), drug dealer Rodney (Calvin Demba) and gang leader Tazer (Josh Tedeku) – who all suddenly develop superhuman powers, ranging from Flash-like speed to telekinesis. But it’s Michael that the series is anchored around, and when his teleportation and future-seeing abilities show him the death of the woman he loves, he must bring all five together to stop her. The real drama comes as each of them comes to terms with their abilities (some don’t want them, while others use them for personal gain), while a dark organization hunts them.
This 100% fresh series is a smart, stylish, high-stakes sci-fi drama series that does not disappoint. All six episodes (and their epic cliffhanger) are streaming on Netflix, with a second season in the works.
