When Microsoft abandoned the Xbox Elite wireless controller almost exactly a decade, he established a new standard for professional style controllers, and more importantly, this made them much more accessible to all players.

The best part for us is that the popularity of the Elite series controller, and others like it, have generated a whole range of excellent Xbox pro-classified controllers like the $ 200 unlimited X revolution.

Designed for the game

I really dig the look of the unlimited X revolution. I would like there to be more color options, but matt black with a subtle green garnish is quite pretty. I do not like controllers who try too hard to stand out with their creations, so the discreet look but of the quality of the X revolution is great.

It is a little flattest and more square than most other Xbox controllers, including the elite, and I feared that it would feel too large in my little hands. But this is not the case: it is comfortably located in my grip, and I do not need crazy finger gymnastics to reach the pimples. I was even surprised that I could easily reach the two additional medium bumpers without having to switch to a claw handle.

The face buttons are quite flat, which makes them much easier to press, and the largest surface makes it a larger target (and easier to strike). The XYAB buttons, the D-PAD at eight lane, the trigger stops and four rear buttons are all micro-switches, and they feel very solid. The hall effect is triggered and the joysticks have a little more tension than usual, but they are extremely reactive and quite solid.

I only have some problems with the equipment. On the one hand, there are only two stages in trigger stops, but at least it is a complete stop instead of halfway as on the brother PlayStation of Revolution X Umimited, the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro, and you can customize it more in the software.

My other frustration is with the rear buttons. They are nice, but if you tend to tighten the handle closely, as in an intense match or a boss fight, it is quite easy to press the lower with your little finger. Fortunately, you can deactivate them if it becomes a problem. I prefer paddles to buttons anyway.

Nacon claims more than 10 hours of battery life on its website, which initially disappointed me – it’s quite bad. But during my tests, I was extremely impressed. It lasted much more than 10 hours without needing a charge and is honestly among the best battery authorities I saw in a controller.

None of these reproaches would prevent me from recommending the controller; These are just things to note if you will spend $ 200 for a controller.

Fine adjustment sensation

Personalization is the largest revolution X force: it offers you the most granular hardware and software options I have ever seen. You can insert a weight set of 10, 14 or 16 grams (included in the box) for the exact feeling of the hand you want. You also get additional joystick caps and small metal rings intended to increase the physical thickness of the joystick. Nacon also gives you a traditional four-way D-Pad for the games where you need it.

Nacon has a free PC application for all the standard software changes you are expecting, such as button remapping, multiple profiles, dead joystick areas and the trigger response. You might not expect the joysticks and triggers to be adjusted via a linear graph for extremely adjusted reactivity. Other controllers that I have used allow you to choose from a few pre -selected beaches, but Nacon allows you to define it precisely for a split response.

It is delivered with four integrated profiles, but you can create as much as you wish (only four active ingredients at a time), and Nacon facilitates exports and importing them on your Nacon controllers, or switching to them. An LCD screen on the controller helps rationalize the selection process and remember that you want the current parameters to be.

I was also impressed by grouped accessories. In addition to all the things I have already mentioned, you also get a load base (which also houses the wireless dong), and the transport case is first -rate (including the zipper). It’s nice to see a business paying details.

No matter how you look at it, $ 200 is a lot of money for a game controller. Especially when you can get large controllers like Elite Wireless 2 or the Victrix Pro BFG for as low as $ 140 to $ 150. But if you want solid equipment with granular customization for the performance set, the unlimited X revolution is one of the best.
