ChatGPT is back up after an outage disrupted use this afternoon

If you’ve had trouble using ChatGPT today, you’re not alone. The AI chatbot experienced a partial outage for many users this afternoon, Down Detector saw reports reaching over 12,000 reports around the height of the issue today. OpenAI issued a status update shortly after noting that “high error rates” were occurring for users of ChatGPT and the platform. This issue was marked as resolved at 5:14 PM ET.
Although the initial outage can be repaired, OpenAI still has an active status alert. This is only for the fine-tuning component of its API service. But the end of this latest issue could also be in sight, as the company’s current statement reads: “We have implemented mitigation measures and are monitoring recovery.” »
Another AI chatbot, Claude from Anthropic, also experienced an outage today. It lists similar issues with “high API error rate on all Claude models.” This status was resolved as of 1 p.m. ET.
