A new study from the United Kingdom explains how thumbs helped shape brain development in humans and other primates. Scientists have found a link between the size of the thumb and the size of the neocortex which is involved in the cerebral functions of higher order, which, according to them, suggest that the thumbs are linked to “thought and not movement”.
