5 Features Other Android Makers Must Copy Now

The Pixel 9 series was large for Pixel Hardware, but the Pixel 10 series of this year actually did more that I would like to see other manufacturers of Android Imitate phones.

Pixel snap

Pixel Snap is the name of Google for its version of Magsafe, a functionality which has long allowed iPhones to fix magnetically to the legions of accessories: chargers with wall supports and overloaded camera harnesses. Google did not really invent Pixel Snap. Rather, this is an implementation of Qi2, an updated version of the old wireless load standard found in most Android phones, just with stronger magnets.

Qi2 adopted Apple’s Magsafe standard in 2023, but before now, only one Android phone had fully adopted this version. This phone, the HMD horizon, was not exactly the current. After all, even the Pixel, despite the arrival of Google and to be available in carrier stores, ships relatively few units compared to the phones of Apple and Samsung.

Hopefully Pixel Snap becomes the inspiration that motivates other Android phones manufacturers to take this seriously. I already have reasons why I do not replace my Galaxy Z Fold 6 with the model of this year, but I hope that the Z Fold 8 is delivered with the version of Magsafe de Samsung.

Thicker phone, larger battery

In a year when Samsung is launching the Galaxy S25 Edge and made the Galaxy Z Fold 7 the thinnest foldable in the United States, and Apple should release the air of the iPhone, Google did not bother to make one of its thin phones.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is practically the same as the shiny last year, which means that it looks quite thick next to a Galaxy Z Fold 7. I am personally not embarrassed by this. My Galaxy Z Fold 6, when it is unfolded (that’s how I use it most of the time) is the same thickness as the S25 edge.

It was never a problem for me. However, I find myself loading the phone a little more often than I wish. Personally, I would like to see a version of my phone with a bigger battery – a little more delighted than to see a phone making a slim mm slim. I saw and held the Z Fold 7 in person. Honestly, that did not amaze me almost as much as the refinements that entered the Z Fold 6. I prefer to have a capacity like the 5015mAh battery of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

IP68

For someone who was carrying a light telephone 2 and was excited enough to possibly pre -order the rest, I became as much a user of the phone as someone can be. I finally canceled this Light 3 pre-order pre-order because my phone has replaced a laptop like my PC, and it is quite long now that it is difficult for me to imagine the transition.

It means I need my phone to last. Fortunately, my foldable has remarkably resisted in the past year. These phones – or at least those of Samsung, who are the only ones I have used – are remarkably durable. But until the Pixel 10 Pro was foldable, no foldable was as sure to use around dust and water as a conventional phone.

The last entry of the Google foldable line is larger than ever with an 8 -inch screen. Google also promises that the 10 Pro Fold can last up to 10 years of folding and deployment, so this foldable can be an investment.

The foldable this year of Google is the first foldable with an IP68 note, which means that it is protected from dust and sand. Given the importance of this device for my livelihoods, I would like to see my next model have this same note.

Curved screens

The Pixel Watch 4 released alongside the series of Pixel 10 phones. Like the previous models, it has curved glass. This time, however, the watch also had a curved screen below.

I love the curved glass. To date, I think that the Edge + 2023 motorcycle was the most comfortable smartphone with which I interacted, thanks to its curved screen on the four sides. I would like to see more companies looking into the curved glass, and I would be even more interested in seeing more experimentation with curved screens below. I do not expect this technology to be for everyone, but it is a captivating design for those of us who would like to see something different.

Journalization application

Listen, I will not tell you that I intend to use the new Google journal application. Even if we believe in Google when it indicates that the treatment of AI is done entirely on the device, I do not think that a newspaper is a place that benefits from AI. But I like to see the manufacturers of Android phones show good old -fashioned applications. More innovative software is a good thing, especially when we consider the number of exclusive iPhone applications never reach Android.

I finally want to see companies develop more of their own applications, and I would not be sad if some of these applications were more newspaper applications. I generally prefer Samsung applications to Google and I could see myself using a journal application that has shipped on Galaxy phones, where AI is better segmented as an optional supplement.

I am not likely to buy a pixel phone so early, but I was really impressed by the last two years of pixel equipment. I am happy to see Google intensify its game, and I hope that it encourages more phones manufacturers to do the same.
