5 upgrades we want from the Google Pixel 10

The Google Pixel 10 could be less than two months old now, with rumors suggesting that it could land on August 20.
Various tips also gave us an idea of what to expect from this next phone, including upgrades that we really want to see. But there are other improvements that we have not heard mentioned, but still hope.
So, below, you will find five upgrades that we really want from Google Pixel 10. It is a mixture of things that seem likely and a few longer shots, but combined, they could make pixel 10 a massive improvement on Google Pixel 9.
1. An action button
The action button is one of the most interesting and most useful additions to the iPhone in recent years, it is a customizable hardware key that you can use for all kinds of things.
Not everyone is convinced by the action button, but if you find a function that works for you, it can start to feel almost essential. Perhaps for example, you want to use the action button as a camera pane, a shortcut to AI or a quick translation tool.
The possibilities are almost endless and we would like to see these possibilities coming to Google Pixel 10.
Unfortunately, nothing indicates that this phone will get such a key, and in the absence of rumors on this subject, we do not really expect, but we hope anyway.
2. Magnetic wireless load
Another feature that we would like to see borrowed from the iPhone is the Magsafe magnetic wireless load, and this seems much more likely, because the technology to achieve it is available for Android phones.
Qi2 is a relatively recent wireless load standard and it supports the “magnetic power profile”, which means that chargers and accessories can be attached to a magnetically.
Unfortunately, for any reason, it is not something that many Android phone manufacturers have quickly supported, with tastes of the Samsung Galaxy S25 series supporting the magnetic load, but only with the addition of a special case.
Currently, there is a disagreement on the question of whether the Google Pixel 10 series will also need a case with integrated magnets to get there, or if these phones will have magnets integrated there so that there is no necessary cases.
Be that as it may, by going out by leaks, it seems likely that a form of magnetic load will be offered, but we really hope that it is native, rather than requiring a specific case to function.
3. A telephoto lens
Although it is a fairly expensive phone, the standard Google Pixel 9 does not have a telephoto lens – you are therefore limited to wide and ultra -large objectives.
Adding one to the Pixel 10 is then an obvious wish, and it is something that we would really like to see, because it would allow a greater variety of photos to be taken with the phone.
The good news is that it seems almost certain that a telephoto is added to Pixel 10, because several leaks have said it.
It will be apparently a Vivaneau of 10.8 Mp offering a 5x optical zoom, which is longer than certain telephoto lens cameras allow it.
The less good news is that wide and ultra-large cameras will use worse sensors on Pixel 9, perhaps in order to reduce costs while adding a third goal, we therefore hope that Google will get the right balance.
4. A more powerful chipset
Google phones find it difficult to compete during the years with regard to food, even the Pixel 9 Pro XL having a chipset which is significantly less powerful than what you will find in Samsung and Apple phones.
So – Yes – we want (and wait) the Google Pixel 10 to have a new chipset more powerful than its predecessor. But what we really want is a strong increase in energy – the one that complies with the Snapdragon 8 elite, found in the Samsung Galaxy S25 series and others on our Android phones list.
Are we going to get it? Well, it’s difficult to say. We expect the Pixel 10 to have a Tensor G5 chipset (up to the G4 tensor in Pixel 9), but be an iterative or revolutionary upgrade – or somewhere between the two – is less clear.
The reports suggest that Google could associate with TSMC for this, which could lead to better results than the previous produced chipsets produced by Samsung, but we are skeptical about the fact that this will make a really transformative upgrade. We hope it is.
5.
Given the number of AI features, the Google Pixel 9 could certainly be described as an “IA phone”, but it actually has fewer AI tools than Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL.
More specifically, it does not have certain video strengthening features powered by AI, and although this can be summed up with material limitations, we hope that the Pixel 10 will all obtain the same AI tools as the Pixel 10 Pro.
And we don’t only want the same AI tools as we’ve ever seen – what we really want here is new IA things. Perhaps things that are only possible because of the power of the new Tensor G5 chipset, so that they can really amaze us and show how far the line of pixels arrived last year.
It is probably based on the past form that certain new features of AI will be launched with the Google Pixel 10, so that’s good. But if he will have all the same features of AI as his brothers and sisters are less certain.
