6 Netflix movies to watch this Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day weekend is here, which means it’s time to get ready for a cozy movie night with a watchlist that will keep you hooked for hours. Netflix has a huge library of romance titles, so you don’t have to worry about running out of options.
Here are six diverse movies you can add to your Netflix watchlist for Valentine’s Day and binge-watch over the weekend.
Lady Chatterley’s Lover
Based on the novel of the same name by DH Lawrence, Lady Chatterley’s Lover is a risky historical romantic film. The story follows Connie Reid (That of the Crown Emma Corrin), a young woman married to the wealthy Sir Clifford Chatterley. She finds herself trapped in an unsatisfying and draining marriage after returning from the war, paralyzed and emotionally distant, and he suggests that she have an affair just to give him an heir.
Soon, Connie begins an affair with Oliver Mellors (Sinners‘ Jack O’Connell), the game warden of the property. But the two begin to fall in love, entangling them in a complex web of class, wealth and forbidden love.
Your place or mine
Your place or mine is a casual watch for Valentine’s Day that brings a romantic style similar to THE Vacation on your screen. The film follows two lifelong best friends, Debbie (Reese Witherspoon) and Peter (Ashton Kutcher), who lead very different lives: while Debbie is an overprotective but loving mother in Los Angeles looking to grow her career, Peter is a successful businessman in New York with a hidden dream.
When the two exchange lives and homes after a series of events, they both realize a lot about themselves and their feelings for each other, complicated by their careers and personal priorities.
10DANCE
My foreign language suggestion for your Valentine’s Day Netflix watchlist is the recently released 10DANCEa Japanese love story based on the manga of the same name. The romantic dance film focuses on the dynamic between Shinya Sugiki, a strict and talented ballroom dancing champion, and his namesake, Shinya Suzuki, a laid-back Latin dancing champion based in Japan. Despite their rivalry, Sugiki asks Suzuki to have their respective duos train together so they can prepare for the famous 10Dance competition, where all five standard dances and five Latin dances must be performed by the contestants.
The film features some amazing choreography and visuals, as well as a well-realized enemies-to-lovers trope with great chemistry between the lead actors.
tick, tick… BOOM!
Musical films can be an exciting affair, and nothing shows that better than tick, tick… BOOM! This semi-autobiographical film, which also marks Lin-Manuel Miranda’s feature directorial debut, is based on the musical of the same name by Jonathan Larson. The film explores Larson’s journey writing a musical and entering the acting industry while navigating the obstacles of his love life and the pressure of time.
Directed by Andrew Garfield, tick, tick… BOOM! is a cathartic story about fear of failure, love, heartbreak, and the urge to live life to the fullest. Plus, the soundtrack is addictive, so you have something for your playlist after the credits roll. Garfield’s performance earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
Love, guaranteed
Love, guaranteed is a light romantic comedy about Nick (New girl Damon Wayans Jr.), who decides to sue a dating app (Love, Guaranteed) that promises users that they will find love or a guarantee of getting their money back after 1,000 unsuccessful and frustrating dates. He hires Susan (She is all that is Rachael Leigh Cook), a dedicated pro bono attorney, to take on this high-profile case.
As they dig deeper into the app’s claims and encounter some of Nick’s incompatible dates, the trial turns into a media spectacle. During the trial, the two slowly begin to fall for each other, ultimately proving that the app is, in some way, delivering on its promise.
People we meet on vacation
Finally, a new Netflix romance movie you don’t want to miss for your Valentine’s Day streaming is People We Meet on Vacation.. Based on the novel of the same name by Emily Henry, this love story follows free-spirited Poppy (That of my Lady Jane Emily Bader) and the man with a plan, Alex (The Ballad of Serpents and Songbirds“Tom Blyth). The two opposites have been best friends since college and made a pact to vacation together every summer for a week, no matter where they are in the world.
Over time, their friendship evolves into something more complex as they find themselves developing feelings, leading to tension and anxiety that spills over into their summer travels.
