7 Best Tents (2025), Tested: Camping, Family, and Outdoor Palaces

Rei’s base camp tent is the tent of six best designed and best constructed that I have ever used. It has also been one of the most waterproof tents of our tests. It is a traditional design of dome tent, with two crossed posts and two side posts. The tent floor is a polyester with 150 high quality requests (150D), while the sides are a combination of mesh and nylon 40D. There are a lot of storage pockets, double doors, superb vents and huge windows, making it comfortable even in summer heat. It is also one of the rare family tents and three seasons on the market with an almost full -length rain fly (made of polyester with 75 teeth), which makes it suitable for these autumn and spring trips more prone to bad weather (the fly is about 3 inches from the ground, so not a four -season level like the marmote below, but near). It is also surprisingly stable in the wind given the height (74 inches for the six people model).
The interior is spacious. My family of five (two adults, two teenagers, a 10 -year -old child) had no trouble integrating inside. There is a lot of room for five smaller sleeping pads, or you could double on the Exped megamat duo ($ 349) for an additional comfortable car campsite. The vestibules are also pleasant and spacious, offering storage for the rest of your campsite equipment. If you really want an additional outdoor and covered space, you can enter the basic basic vehicle connector for $ 170 (not tested, but it’s on my list).
With two huge doors that have large snag without snag closures, it is easy to enter and get out of the base camp without walking on anyone. There are also a wide variety of storage options, including six pockets (one for each person), and many suspension loops sewn in the ceiling allowing you to hang lights or launch a clothesline. There are also a lot of stretches, which allows you to make a nice cross -breeze through the tent on hot nights.
