7 new horror movies on Netflix, Shudder, HBO Max, and more in February 2026

February is usually associated with romance, but top streaming services have also added plenty of horror movies to their libraries this month.
In keeping with the theme of love, I’ve selected some horror romances, classics and the latest arrivals on Shudder, the home of horror streaming.
Heart eyes
Look on it
Or: Paramount+ (worldwide)
When: Streaming now
Heart eyes has been on Paramount+ for a while, but it felt wrong not to include it in my February roundup, given that it takes place on Valentine’s Day.
Josh Ruben’s latest film follows the Heart Eyes Killer, who targets couples across the United States on the most romantic day of the year. I totally understand that some people hate romance, but this is a bit extreme. Either way, this slasher romantic comedy is extremely entertaining and mixes genres well. Get ready to laugh, jump and grimace throughout this movie.
Insidious: Chapter 3
Look on it
Or: HBO Max (United States); rent or buy (UK); Netflix (Australia)
When: February 1
THE Insidious The franchise is one of my favorite collaborations from horror filmmakers James Wan and Leigh Whannell. With a new payment of Insidious: the bleeding world Coming this year, it’s worth catching up with the others.
Insidious: Chapter 3 is a prequel to the first two films (also available on HBO Max) and focuses on a new family and a new story. Here we follow Quinn, a young girl, after she contacts a medium to help her contact her recently deceased mother.
However, his plan backfires when an evil spirit makes Quinn its host. It’s extremely tense and a great entry into the franchise as a whole.
bird eater
Look on it
Or: Thrill (worldwide)
When: February 9
Australian horror has been incredible lately, especially with titles like Talk to me And Bring her back. NOW, bird eater is coming to Shudder, and it’s well worth your time.
Newcomers Jack Clark and Jim Weir are the brains behind this film, which scored a healthy 74% on Rotten Tomatoes after its film festival premiere. The film follows a bride-to-be who joins her fiancĂ©’s bachelor party in the remote Australian Outback, and it quickly descends into chaos.
The black phone
Look on it
Or: Netflix (United States); rent or buy (UK); Prime Video (Australia)
When: February 11
The black phone is based on a short story by Stephen King’s son, Joe Hill, so the horror really runs in the family. It stars Ethan Hawke in his most terrifying role yet as the serial killer known as The Grabber.
The film focuses on Finney, a teenager kidnapped by The Grabber, as he attempts to survive and escape his ordeal. While stuck at home, Finney finds a disconnected phone that begins to ring and he communicates with some of the Grabber’s former victims.
If you want a double bill, the sequel to the film, The black phone 2, is now streaming on Peacock.
The Pope’s Exorcist
Look on it
Or: Max (United States); rent or buy (UK); Netflix (Australia)
When: February 11
In this film, Russell Crowe plays Father Gabriele Amorth, the Vatican’s chief exorcist, which is quite the job title. Of course, this comes with significant risks, so I can’t say I envy it too much.
The Pope’s Exorcist is a detailed portrait of a priest who performed over 100,000 exorcisms throughout his career, and whether you believe in the supernatural or not, you have to admit that it’s quite fascinating.
If you like supernatural and weird horror, you should definitely check it out.
Life after Beth
Look on it
Or: Netflix (United States); MGM+ (UK); Prime Video (Australia)
When: February 19
Here’s another horror romance for you. Life after Beth is inspired by the story of Orpheus and Eurydice and follows a grieving young man, Zach, whose girlfriend, Beth, dies suddenly.
What he was of course not prepared for was the fact that Beth would end up being reanimated as a zombie. Zach has to try to keep it from getting worse while coming to terms with the fact that his girlfriend is gone, but not really. It’s darkly funny and very bizarre, making it the perfect light-hearted horror.
History of Evil
Look on it
Or: Thrill (worldwide)
When: February 23
Finally, Shudder adds History of Evil at his library at the end of February. It’s received mixed reviews, so you’ll have to be the judge when it hits the horror streaming service.
As war and corruption ravage America and transform it into a police state, a resistance fighter, Alegre Dyer, escapes from political prison and is reunited with her husband and daughter. The family takes refuge in a safe house with a sinister past, where terrible things soon happen.
