Trump and Massie, a libertarian who has been the 4th district of Kentucky since 2012, has long been in disagreement, Trump saying that he wanted Massie to be thrown from the GOP in 2020. However, Massie has retained his seat, winning several primary challenges and even Trump’s approval in 2022.
But Massie continued to be a thorn to Trump’s team during her second term. In addition to opposing Trump strikes against Iran, he has always voted against his “big and beautiful bill” throughout the process.
Massie also joined the Ro Khanna representative, D-Calif., Last week to introduce a resolution of war powers intended to “prohibit participation in Iran”.
“The Constitution does not allow the executive power to unilaterally commit an act of war against a sovereign nation which has not attacked the United States,” said Massie about the resolution in a statement at the time.
After strikes in Iran on Saturday, Massie made Trump’s decision, writing on social networks: “It is not constitutional”.
Trump described Massie as “not Maga” and a “big -Stre” of simple spirit “Sunday on Truth Social.
“Massie is weak, ineffective and vote ‘No, on almost everything that was before (Rand Paul, Jr.), no matter how good something can be, “wrote Trump. Paul, a republican, is the other senator from Kentucky.
“The good news is that we will have a wonderful American patriot against him in the republican primary, and I will be very hard in Kentucky. Maga does not concern lazy, large and non-productive politicians, of which Thomas Massie is certainly one,” he added.
Until now, a single republican – Niki Lee Ethington – has filed a primary file for the 4th district of Kentucky. According to her campaign website, Ethington is an authorized nurse graduated in 2021 and did not occupy a public service.
Massie responded to Trump’s attacks by publishing a fundraising attraction and a screenshot of Trump’s social media publication, as well as a photo of a television appearance on Sunday On CBS of “Face The Nation” of CBS. During this appearance, he pleaded not to get involved in a war in Iran.
Sunday afternoon, Massie also castigated Trump for her article on Truth Social earlier during the day which asked: “Why would there be no change in diet” in Iran and to call to “make Iran great again”.
Massie wrote: “They are not the first in America.”
Trump has already withdrawn the Republicans in the primaries – the most memorable during the 2022 electoral cycle, when his political operation targeted the GOP legislators who voted to indict him after the Capitol assault on January 6. Eight of the 10 lost their primaries or chose not to present themselves to the re -election.
