The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but the MTA is investigating factors such as mechanical failure, weather conditions or the driver’s health, WABC reported.

The driver was going up a hill when they stepped on the accelerator to accelerate, and the bus then suffered a mechanical failure, police sources told WABC, adding that the driver could have hit the emergency brake and lost control.
