9 Things I Refuse to Do on My Mac
There are certain things that I refuse to do my Mac – either to an office or on the go. Although I like my MacBook Pro and I use it daily to work, some tasks are better performed from mobiles.
Put on phone calls to games, here are nine things that I simply refuse to sit in an office and avoid using my Mac, at all costs.
I love the short video as much as the next person, and I am really sucked in the infinite parchment on my phone. However, this simply does not happen on my Mac.
I will open rolls or tiktoks that send me SMS on my Mac, or even directly access these services to display and respond to DMS. I’m just not sucked in my mac’s parchment.
I think it just comes from it is not as fluid. The videos look strange (9:16 do not seem to be well on a display of 16:10) and the scrolling is not as transparent. Having to click and drag or use the keyboard simply does not have the same feeling as the sweep.

Make phone calls
I love how much my iPhone, iPad and Mac are integrated – integration and fault explain why I like the Apple ecosystem. One thing I don’t do is take phone calls on my Mac.
I may be the strangest, but I only answer (or I place) the phone calls on my phone unless I find it literally – and that never happens. I do not use my Apple Watch, iPad or Mac at all to manage telephone calls. It doesn’t seem natural.
The same goes for video calls on FaceTime. Although there are some exceptions for video calls, as if I train someone or do a work meeting that requires me to sit, I hate making video calls from my Mac. I just prefer to walk while I speak, and hold a MacBook Pro while walking and speaking is simply not my kind of pleasure.
I don’t care that Apple understands the iOS phone application in MacOS 26, I will not use it.

Play games
While MacOS starts its transformation into an appropriate game platform, I simply do not see (or use) my MacBook as a game machine. It is perhaps because I am old and stuck in my ways, after having used MacOS since 2012, when it has supported very little games.
I don’t know why I hate playing on my Mac, but I can’t resolve it to do it. I was very excited when No Man’s Sky Was announced for MacOS because I am a big fan of the infamous title of Hello Games. However, even on my M1 Max MacBook Pro, the game works very badly.
During a short period, I played RunescapeA MMORPG that works on Mac. But even it was short -lived because the game simply works better on Windows and destroyed the battery of my MacBook Pro. I tried to play in my Mac – and I can’t.

Browse my photo library
As part of the Apple ecosystem, my iPhone photos and videos automatically synchronize with iCloud, which makes them available in the photo application on my Mac. It’s good, and I used it from time to time when my phone is not nearby, but it is not a choice for me.
If I am looking for a specific image, or even I try to get an image on my Mac, nine times out of 10, I use my iPhone to find the image, then I brush it. For any reason, I find that the photo application on my iPhone is easier to navigate, especially for photos recently taken.
Even yesterday, I had to take a photo for a recall complaint. I took the photo with my iPhone, then I came back to my office, I opened the photo application to get the photo and I found it that it was not there, even after a few minutes. So, I just finished the photo of my iPhone and it worked instantly.

Manage my calendar
I know that many people consider their Mac as a center for productivity, which I agree. However, when it comes to managing my calendar, I find it much easier to do it from my iPhone. I use Fantastical both on my Mac and my iPhone, so the interface and the conviviality are almost identical. For any reason, however, I cannot have my calendar checked on my Mac.
If I try to know if I have plans for a certain day, even if I am at my office using my Mac, I take my phone and open fantastical. The iPhone looks more like a personal organizational device.

Use cards to plan the routes
When the cards came to MacOS more than a decade, I thought I would use it all the time. No. Once, when my wife and I plan a road trip, I used cards on my Mac to help this. But this is the only time I really used the MAP application on Mac.
If I am looking for information on a business, I will hit Google Maps in Chrome to find and read reviews, check the distance or find a phone number. My life occurs anyway in Chrome, so it is quite easy to hit the + T command to open a new tab, search for a business, then order + W to close the tab when I finished. Pinch to zoom in the screen and scroll through a card is more logical for me on an iPhone (or even an iPad).

Listen to the audio books
At the beginning of 2025, I took a resolution to listen to more audio books. I am not really a reader, but I like a good audio book (especially if it is fully produced with background sounds and music).
As such, I started my own audio server and use it to listen to my audio books at home and on the go. Although the server has a website that works very well on Mac, I just don’t turn to my Mac to listen. I tried it once or twice, and it works well. I just prefer my iPhone for that.
I think it comes down to being more mobile by listening to audio books – on walks, in my workshop, while I fall asleep. The Mac is not really conducive to listening to audio books in these places, so I can’t find it all useful for this task.
My phone also offers better experience when I listen to audio books. Due to the live activity of my audio player, I can access rapid rewinding or to be transmitted with a simple tap. The Mac forced me to access the website and find the button, which is simply not as simple or friendly for me.

Manage my Apple house
I love having the domestic application on my Mac, don’t get me wrong. From time to time, I will even open it. But the Mac is not the essential device to manage my configuration at the Apple house.
I find that the domestic application works better and is more useful on my iPhone. I build all the scenes and automation of my phone, and I even rock my phone stuff. In fact, the domestic application for Mac looks like a Mac version of the existing iPhone and iPad application, although without accessibility to the touch screen.
The only time I really accessed the domestic application on my Mac is when I shoot a homekit camera to check the porch or the courtyard. Even then, I open the domestic application, go to the camera and open an image in the image.
I also find it more useful to add new devices to my homekit configuration from my phone because it has a camera to easily scan the torque codes. Yes, my Mac also has a camera, but go.

Use threads or x
In the same vein to scroll the short video, I really don’t use a lot of threads or x on my Mac. Facebook? I use it all the time.
However, the majority of my social media consumption comes from my phone, simple and simple. I use Facebook from my Mac because I manage groups and I manage things like that on Facebook. I don’t really use Facebook as a social network, it’s no longer a forum or a babbler for me.
So, if I am at my office and want to check the latest news on X or see what my friends do on the wires, I catch my iPhone. The applications work better on mobiles, notifications are easier to use and the experience is more fluid for me.
