Man killed, ICE agent injured at Chicago immigration arrest

An officer killed a person who injured an ice agent during an immigration arrest in the Chicago region on Friday, according to federal immigration officials.
An immigration spokesperson and customs application said that the agents made a vehicle stop as part of a “targeted law on the law” on Friday morning.
The person who stopped resisted and tried to drive his vehicle in the police, hitting him, hitting and dragging one of them later, Ice said in a statement. “Fearing for his life, the officer unloaded his firearm and hit the subject,” said Ice.
Photos and videos captured by NBC Chicago have shown several law enforcement vehicles to Franklin Park, where filming has occurred.
The officer and the driver were taken to the hospital. The driver was declared dead in the hospital. The officer has suffered serious injuries and is in a stable state, Ice said.
“We pray for the rapid recovery of our police agent,” said Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary of internal security, in a statement. “He followed his training, used the appropriate force and correctly applied the law to protect the public and the police.”
The Ministry of Internal Security identified the driver who was killed as Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez. DHS said in a statement that it was “the objective of the application operation” and that it came to the United States “on an unknown date and hour”.
The DHS accused Villegas-Gonzalez of having “an imprudent driving story”.
The Federal Office of Investigations said it helped law enforcement agents in response to the incident, NBC Chicago reported.
The death of Villegas-Gonzalez comes the same week that Ice launched its immigration application campaign “Operation Midway Blitz” through the state of Illinois, focusing in particular on Chicago. It was not immediately clear if the application activity that had led to shooting was part of the campaign.
As part of the campaign, hundreds of ICE agents had to use the naval base of the Great Lakes in the north of Chicago for the staging, and a federal immigration establishment on BroadView for transformation, reported NBC Chicago.
