Provo, utah – While the authorities worked feverishly to find the person who murdered Charlie Kirk at the University of Utah Valley last week, the 22 -year -old man now accused of crime was an SMS with his romantic partner and recognizing that he was the shooter, revealed court documents.

Tyler Robinson pulled a single mortal shot from the roof of a building overlooking the outside place where Kirk spoke about 3,000 people on September 10, according to the investigators. Subsequently, prosecutors say they sent a text with the partner, with whom he lived near St. George, Utah, about 240 miles (387 kilometers) southwest of the campus.

He said he looked under his keyboard at home. There was a note that said: “I had the opportunity to leave Charlie Kirk and I will take it.”

After expressing a shock, his partner asked Robinson if he was the shooter. Robinson replied: “I’m, I’m sorry.”

The partner apparently never went to the police with information. Robinson stayed on the run until the following night when his parents admitted that he was the person in a photo published by the authorities when they were looking for the shooter. They helped organize Robinson’s peaceful surrender.

The partner was not appointed in the charge documents which contained the account of the shooting and were made public on Tuesday when the authorities accused Robinson of capital murder and other charges. He could face the death penalty.

The law enforcement officials say they are trying to find out if others knew or helped Robinson in the assassination. They did not say that if the partner was one of the people investigating but publicly expressed his appreciation for the partner sharing information.

Prosecutors allege that Robinson used a bolt rifle to pull Kirk in the neck on the Orem campus, about 40 miles (64 kilometers) south of Salt Lake City. DNA on the rifle trigger corresponded to Robinson, according to the County Prosecutor of Utah, Jeff Gray. The rifle had been that of Robinson’s grandfather.

Robinson briefly appeared on Tuesday before a judge by prison video. He nodded a little, but especially looked at the judge reading the accusations and said he would name a lawyer to represent him. Robinson’s family refused to comment on the Associated Press since his arrest.

Kirk, a father of two 31 -year -olds, was an eminent force in politics credited to having energized the republican youth movement and helping Donald Trump to win back the White House in 2024. He acquired a large element on social networks, his podcast and his events on the campus that presented him to a line of questionnaires that could question and debate on any subject.

The authorities did not reveal a clear reason in the shooting, but Gray said that Robinson wrote in a text on Kirk to his partner: “I was enough of his hatred. A certain hatred cannot be negotiated.”

The prosecutor said Robinson also wrote in a text he had spent more than a week planning Kirk’s attack. The authorities have not said what they believe that planning involved.

Gray refused to answer if Robinson has targeted Kirk for his anti-transgender opinions. Kirk was shot dead by asking a question that addressed mass fire, armed violence and transgender people.

“It’s for a jury to decide,” said Gray.

Robinson was involved in a romantic relationship with his roommate, who, according to the investigators, is transgender.

While the authorities say that Robinson did not cooperate with the investigators, they say that his family and friends have shared information.

Robinson’s mother told investigators that their son had become politically hard in the past year and had become more favorable to the rights of homosexuals and transgenders, Gray said.

These decisions caused several conversations in the household, especially between Robinson and his father. They had different political opinions and Robinson told his partner in a text that his father had become a “Maga Purs” since Trump was elected.

Robinson’s mother recognized him when the authorities released a photo of the suspect and his parents confronted him, when Robinson said he wanted to commit suicide, said Gray.

The family convinced him to meet a family friend who is a retired sheriff. This person was able to ask Robinson to surrender, said the prosecutor.

Robinson was arrested Thursday evening near St. George, where he grew up.

In an exchange of text with his partner published by the authorities, Robinson wrote on planning to draw his rifle from his “fall point”, but that the area was “locked”.

Later, he sent: “I can approach, but there is a squad car parked next door. I think they have already swept this place, but I don’t want to hazard it.” The texts cited in court documents did not include horodatages and it was not clear how long after the Robinson shooting.

“To be honest, I hoped to keep this secret until my death of old age. I am sorry to get involved,” Robinson wrote in another text to his partner.

Robinson threw the rifle and the clothes and asked his roommate to hide evidence, said Gray.

Robinson was also accused of the release of a firearm crime, liable to a life sentence, and hampering justice, liable to a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.

He was also accused of falsifying witness because he had ordered his partner of deleting their SMS and told his partner to remain silent if he was questioned by the police, said Gray.

FBI director Kash Patel said on Tuesday that the agents were considering “anyone and everyone” who was involved in a discussion social media discord platform with Robinson. The discussion salon involved “much more” than 20 people, he said during a hearing of the Senate’s judicial committee in Washington.

The accusations filed on Tuesday bear two improvements, in particular by committing several of the crimes before or close to children and by producing violence according to the political convictions of the subject.

Kirk, a dominant figure in conservative policy, became a confidant by President Donald Trump after having founded Turning Point USA based in Arizona, one of the country’s largest political organizations. He led young conservative evangelical Christians to politics.

In the days that followed Kirk’s assassination, the Americans found themselves in the face of questions about the increase in political violence, the deep divisions that brought the nation here and if something can change.

Despite calls for greater civility, some who have opposed the provocative statements of Kirk on gender, race and politics criticized him after his death. Many Republicans have led to pressure to punish anyone who believes they were dishonored, which has caused his jobs to be lost or to face other public and private consequences.
