Cardinals at 49ers: RB Christian McCaffrey heavily used, less dynamic so far in 2025

The Arizona cardinals face the 49ers of San Francisco on Sunday afternoon in week 3 for their first division game of the year, and after having missed it in the two games last season, they will have to face the ball carrier Christian McCaffrey.

However, for two games, while McCaffrey is the most used offensive skills player in the League, he was not dynamic.

He has previously been a killer of the cardinals.

In seven games between the 49ers and the Carolina Panthers, he is 6-1 against the cardinals. It has 580 yards on the ground and five affected on 5.8 yards per race and 44 catches for 426 yards and five affected. He has an average of 143.7 melee yards per game and more than 1.4 affected per game against the cardinals. Four times, he rushed to at least 95 yards.

But the story through two games for McCaffrey, who barely played last season, is that he is more working than dynamic.

He leads the NFL with 50 keys (attempts to precipitate more reception), but it has an average of 3.5 yards per race, more than a meter less than its 4.7 quarry. Its longest rush this season has been 13 yards.

The cardinals have played the race so far this season. They only granted 3.8 yards per attempt.

McCaffrey still has 249 melee yards in two games, so he has an average of almost 125 yards in total so far, but if cardinals can keep McCaffrey produce like that without the big races or dangerous receptions, they will probably win the match on Sunday.

With the 49ers playing without Brock Purdy, George Kittle or Brandon Aiyuk, they need McCaffrey to be dynamic. We will see if the cardinals can keep it as a work.
