House Oversight Expands Biden Admin Probe To Include Press Secretary And Chief Of Staff

The Chamber’s supervisory committee sent letters to four senior officials from Biden, appointing former press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and former staff chief Jeff Zients.
The chairman of the committee and representative of Kentucky, James Comer, announced on Friday that he had sent letters to four former administration officials – including the former senior adviser and press secretary of the White House, Jean -Pierre, special assistant to President Ian Sams, deputy press secretary Andrew Bates and Zients – demanding that they sit for transcribed interviews.

In his declaration, Comer said that the letter targets the inner circle of former president Joe Biden, accusing them of having deceived the public, and said that they “said several times to the American people that he was” clear as never “,” rejecting any comments on their obvious mental decline as “free”. They fed these false discussion points on progressive allies and the media, which helped perpetuate that President Biden was able to serve. »»
“As part of our aggressive survey on the concealment of its cognitive decline and potentially unauthorized executive actions, we must hear those who helped and encouraged this farce,” added his declaration. In his letter to Jean-Pierre, Comer wrote: “You have been a press secretary of the White House for President Biden in the last two years of his administration and you have been a confident in an interior confidence circle, because you were promoted to the president’s principal advisor in October 2024.”
“You were not only close to the president daily, but you were” alongside the ranks of the president of the president as the main advisers Mike Donilon, Steve Richetti and Bruce Reed “. Your statement, on several occasions, that the decline of President Biden was attributable to tactics such as “false cheaps” or “disinformation” cannot go without investigation, “added his letter.
Commer asked that Jean-Pierre appears for an interview transcribed on August 18.
In his letter to Bates, Comer also noted that, in addition to serving in the Biden administration, Bates had previously occupied communication posts during the Biden campaign in 2020 and the Obama-Biden administration.
Commer wrote that, apart from Jean-Pierre, Bates was one of the “most eminent public defenders” of the cognitive form of Biden.
“The extent of your responsibilities – both official and otherwise – and personal interactions within the oval office cannot go without investigation, given the increasing proof that President Biden was invalid for a large part, if not all of his quarter,” added Comer.
Bates was invited to appear for an interview transcribed on August 27. (Related: Loftus: Democrats have done a waste when they pushed Biden in traffic)
In his letter to Zients, the president described the White House of Biden – under the leaders of Zients – as being in the “disarray”, because media reports have become more and more focused on the “mental capacities” of the president.

“You have managed a white house in disarray after public reports began to focus on the apparent decline in the mental capacities of President Biden,” said the letter.
“You would have called a call to permanence in July 2024″ in which [you] urged the team of President Biden to unite and advance from the terrible performance of Biden debate[.]”The scope of your responsibilities – both official and otherwise – and personal interactions within the Oval Office cannot go without investigation,” said Comer.
The letter requests that the former chief of staff appears for an interview transcribed on September 3.
The president’s letter to Sams details his position in the office of the White House Council in the last two years of the Biden administration.
He describes Sams as the “first line of defense” in the management of the administration’s response to negative media coverage and the “misadventures” reported from Biden.
“The scope of your responsibilities – both official and otherwise – and personal interactions within the oval office cannot go without investigation, given the growing evidence that President Biden was incapable of many, if not the entire term,” said Commer.
Sams was invited to appear for an interview transcribed before the committee on August 11.
Neera Tanden would have declared Tuesday to the committee that she had authorized the use of the autopen, but she was uncertain which had given the final approval, according to a press release from the president.

Biden’s administrative aid, Ashley Williams and Annie Tomasini, should also participate in transcribed interviews.
In a statement published on Wednesday, Comer criticized Bernal for withdrawing his testimony despite his acceptance initially to appear voluntarily, accusing him of avoiding responsibility now that the executive privilege has been lifted. The Commer has assigned to appear the long -standing assistant of Jill Biden, Anthony Bernal, Thursday after he failed to appear voluntarily before the committee in his investigation into the cognitive decline of President Biden.
Commer ordered Bernal to testify before the committee on July 16.
