Italian rapper apologizes for Jannik Sinner-Hitler lyric
Milan – Italian rapper Fedez apologized for having published music words saying that the tennis player Jannik Sinner speaks with “Adolf Hitler’s accent”, which prompted the musician to be accused of having encouraged racial hatred.
Fedez recently published an Instagram story featuring lyrics of a new song that said in Italian: “The Italian has a new idol named Jannik Sinner. Italian with pure blood with the accent of Adolf Hitler.”
A member of the municipal council of Bolzano – The capital of the German autonomous province of Alto Adige in the north of Italy, hence the sinner – filed an official complaint on Thursday with prosecutors on the words of FEDEZ on the basis of an article in the Italian penal code which sanctions the incitement of racial hatred and propaganda.
“I wanted to take a paradox and that was terribly mentioned, about the athletes born and raised in Italy, but which are often not considered Italian because of the color of their skin and apply it to the Italian athlete,” said Fedez during a concert in Milan on Friday, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I couldn’t remove it and all I can do is apologize,” added Fedez. “If something like it is not understood, it is because of an error made by anyone who wrote it. So I take responsibility.”
The reference to “the Italian with pure blood” recalls the Italian fascist propaganda of the 1930s, according to Giuseppe Martucci, the member of the municipal council, who added that the reference to Hitler was unacceptable.
“I felt my duty to act and maintain the founding values of our Constitution,” said Martucci. “We cannot allow a language that evokes racism and hatred of being standardized by public figures.”
By winning four Grand Chelem titles in the past two years, Sinner has exceeded Italian football stars to become the most popular athlete in the country. He lost the United States final against Carlos Alcaraz this month and lost the n ° 1 ranking with his Spanish rival.
