A’ja Wilson started it again.
The star of the AS of Las Vegas won the most precious player in the WNBA for 2025. Wilson claimed the prize a fourth time record. She had been tied with Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie and Lauren Jackson as the only recipient three times.

An emotional Wilson thanked her teammates when she was surprised at the prize. “It’s my name on it,” said Wilson. “But this one is all of us, all.”
Wilson, in his eighth WNBA season, sparkled. She finished in the first five in points, rebounds, blocks and flights. The WNBA says that the center led the League in points per game (937) for the second consecutive season and in games per game for the fifth time. The seven-time All-Star pulled to 50% of the field, a career summit of 42% against three points and 85% percent compared to the free throw line.
“I admired the way you led. With grace, humility, humor and just one of the greatest players to have ever been in this league,” said WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert. She called Wilson “a global icon and a global ambassador”, not only for the League but also for female sports and all sports.
Last year, Wilson led the United States team to an eighth gold medal consecutive to the Paris Summer Olympic Games (and also appointed MVP of this tournament).
Wilson AS continue their game through the WNBA qualifiers with a semi-final that begins on Sunday against Indiana fever.
