Canaveral Cape, Florida – NASA presented its new astronauts on Monday, 10 scientists, engineers and test pilots chosen from more than 8,000 candidates to help explore the moon and possibly Mars.

For the first time, there were more women than men in a class of NASA astronaut. They included a geologist who worked on Curiosity Mars Rover from NASA, a SpaceX engineer who stole a spo -spaces who presented the first private spacewalk in the world and a former launch director of SpaceX.

The group will follow two years of training before becoming eligible for SpaceFlight. The acting administrator, Sean Duffy, said that one of them could become the first person to walk on Mars.

This is the 24th class of astronaut for NASA since the Mercury Seven Original made its debut in 1959. The previous class was in 2021.

Only 370 people were selected by NASA as astronauts, making it an extraordinarily small and elite group mainly composed of men. The latest additions – revealed during a ceremony at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston – will join 41 active American astronauts that are currently used in the body.

NASA flight operations director NAS, Norm Knight, said that competition was stiff and called the new arrivals “distinguished” and “exceptional”.
