Man United’s £62.5m Bryan Mbeumo offer rejected by Brentford – sources

Brentford told Manchester United that they should come back with a wider offer if they wanted to sign Bryan Mbeumo after rejecting a global ensemble worth 62.5 million pounds Sterling ($ 85.7 million), sources told ESPN.

United has made a priority signature of Mbeumo and has intensified negotiations with Brentford in recent days.

Brentford, however, holds more than 62.5 million pounds sterling – including additional modules – currently on the table, believing that the value of the attacker increased considerably after reaching 20 goals in the Premier League last season.

There are Brentford indications that interested clubs will have to go beyond the 65 million pounds sterling mark to agree with an agreement for the 25-year-old.

United and Brentford should hold new talks, although United, according to sources, insisted in private, they will not be held in ransom.

There is money to spend to strengthen the Ruben Amorim team – even without European football next season – but sources have told ESPN that they would remain “disciplined” in negotiations on transfer costs and wages.

They have already signed Matheus Cunha after having triggered the liberation clause of 62.5 million pounds sterling in his contract at Wolves. Cunha scored 15 goals in the Premier League last season and, at 26, is older than Mbeumo.

Despite the reverse, United remains confident that Mbeumo wants to move to Old Trafford.

It remains the hope that an agreement can be concluded, which would allow Cameroon International to join the team for the start of the pre-season training on July 7.
