Oscar -winning actor Jessica Chastain said on Wednesday that she was not “aligned” on Apple on the company’s decision to postpone the beginnings of “The Savant”, a streaming series on an investigator who infiltrates online hatred groups.

“I mean how much I appreciate my partnership with Apple. They were incredible collaborators and I deeply respect their team,” said Chastain in an article on his Instagram account. “That said, I wanted to reach out and let you know that we are not aligned on the decision to suspend the release of the scientist.”

The first two episodes of “The Savant” were to be presented on Friday. But in a brief statement to Variety this week, an Apple TV + spokesperson said that the platform had decided to postpone the deployment of the program after “special attention”, adding: “We appreciate your understanding and we are delighted to publish the series on a future date.”

Apple TV + did not identify any exact reason for the delay in the emission or specified the considerations it has weighed. The decision occurred two weeks after the assassination of the conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot dead from a UTAH event. Utah Spencer Cox Governor, a republican, said the suspect in Kirk’s murder was influenced by what he called “left ideology”.

“The Savant” was adapted from a 2019 article published in the Cosmopolitan magazine entitled “Is it possible to stop a mass shoot before it occurs?” The mini-series features Chastain as a woman who “infiltrates online hatred groups in order to stop domestic extremists before acting”, according to Apple press equipment.

“In the past five years since we have made the show,” said Chastain in his Instagram publication, “we have seen unfortunate violence in the United States.”

She listed examples of this violence, including the attempted kidnapping of the Governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer; On January 6, 2021, the American Capitol attacked; The two assassination attempts on President Donald Trump; the assassination of a democratic legislator in Minnesota; and Kirk’s mortal shot.

“These incidents, although far from executing the full range of violence observed in the United States, illustrate a broader state of mind that crosses the political spectrum and must be confronted,” said Chastain. “I have never moved away from difficult subjects, and even if I want this show to be so relevant, unfortunately it is.”

“Although I respect Apple’s decision to suspend the press release for the moment, I hope that the show will soon reach the public,” added Chastain.

Apple TV + spokesperson did not immediately respond to an email asking for a comment on the Chastain post.

Apple has postponed “the scientist” to a particularly tense time for American media companies while navigating political pressure, the regulatory scale and a polarized audience.

Disney, for example, was involved in a national storm on its decision to suspend the Talk-show of the night of Jimmy Kimmel following the criticisms of the president of the Federal Communications Commission Brendan Carr. Kimmel returned to ABC’s programming on Tuesday evening, but two companies that have affiliation positions still refuse to broadcast his program.

Apple CEO, Tim Cook, is also trying to travel a fine line with the Trump administration. Apple is committed to investing $ 600 billion in the United States in the next four years, as it works to avoid prices on the items used in iPhones and other key products.

Chastain is best known for the films “The Help”, “Zero Dark thirty” and “Interstellar”. She won an Oscars for the best actress in 2022 for her title as a title in the biopic “The eyes of Tammy Faye”.
