Oslo police announce rape and sexual assault charges against son of Norwegian crown princess

On Friday, Oslo police announced accusations against Marius Borg Høiby, the eldest son of the princess of the Crown of Norway, on several charges, including rape, sexual assault and bodily injury after a month’s investigation on a case that involved a number of alleged victims of several months.

Høiby, son of the princess of the 28-year-old crown, Mette-Marit and step-son of the throne heir, the crown prince Haakon, has been under control since he was arrested several times in 2024 in the midst of allegations of rape and preliminary damage to bodily injury and criminal damage.

Oslo police lawyer Andreas Kruszewski said Høiby was a cooperative during the police interrogation, which is now over. The evidence in the case was taken from sources, including SMS, testimonies and police searches, said the police lawyer.

The charges included a case of rape involving sexual intercourse and two cases of rape without sex, four cases of sexual assault and two cases of bodily injury, said Kruszewksi at a press conference.

“I cannot go into details of the number of victims in the case beyond confirming that this is a two-digit number,” he said.

Defense lawyer Petar Sekulic, in an email to the Associated Press, said that Høiby “absolutely took accusations very seriously, but recognized no reprehensible act in most cases – in particular cases concerning sexual abuse and violence”.

The Royal Palace said: “The case takes place through the legal system and follows normal procedures. We have nothing more to add. “

The case was the best news in Norway, where the Royals are popular.

Høiby previously lived with the royal couple and their two children, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus, but now lives in a separate house near Sekulic.

Høiby remains free pending a possible trial and is entitled to a presumption of innocence until a court is differently.

Formerly known affectionately under the name of “Little Marius”, Høiby grew up in the eyes of the public playing the same richness and privilege as his royal brothers and sisters, although his biological father, Morton Borg, has served a prison sentence and violent offenses. Hoiby has recognized cocaine consumption and dependence.
