Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons calls Dallas facility shooting ‘my worst nightmare’

The acting director of ice, Todd Lyons, called the shooting on Wednesday morning in an immigration and customs application of Dallas, who killed an inmate and critically injured two, his “worse nightmare”.
For Lyons, who previously worked in an ice desk in Dallas, the shooting “really hit home”.
“Seeing the photos today, some of the balls were in an office I had there,” he said on “Top Story with Tom Llamas”. “It’s just a horrible feeling. People always ask me what is the thing that keeps me awake at night. It is the safety of men and ice women.”

On Wednesday, three detainees were slaughtered when shots sounded around 6:40 am. A victim died on the scene and the other two were taken to the hospital with ball injuries, Dallas police announced. No ice officer was injured.
“My heart leaves the detainee’s family. We are accused of their protection, their guard. Nothing like it should happen,” said Lyons.
The shooter, whom several senior lawsules have informed the investigation identified as Joshua Jahn, had drawn from a neighboring roof or a high position in the port of Sally of the campaign office, Ice said.
The shooter was found dead with a self-inflicted ball wound, Ice said. A bullet found near the shooter wore messages that were of a “anti-ice” nature, said Dallas office of the FBI, describing the attack as “targeted violence”.
Lyon said he had learned that the shooter had pulled “without discrimination” bullets, hitting Hall windows and doors, and that the shooter fired on the port of Sally, where prisoners are brought. The victims were shot dead while they were in vehicles, he said.
“The detainees were not outside a vehicle. The shooter was just pulling random vehicles inside. They were still struck inside the vehicle,” said Lyons. “There were courageous men and women on the ground who entered these vans, withdrew these prisoners while they are under fire.”
He said the shooting was particularly alarming because it occurred during the morning trip hours, near an interstate, apartments and businesses, which means that more people could have been injured.
“It was a targeted attack on the ice, but it could really have injured anyone,” said Lyons.
Lyons said there had been an increase in attacks “against ice officers and agents on a national scale”.
“It is quite serious that the men and women of ice must go there and put themselves in danger, do their mission of application of the law, but never thinking that in our own establishment, our own location, we take the fire of elite shooters in a big city,” he said.
His message to ice agents is: “My back is totally.”
“My mission n ° 1 is to ensure that they return home every night to their families,” he said.
