A federal immigration and customs agent was relieved of her duties after having recorded a hysterical woman on the ground during a confrontation inside 26 Federal Plaza in the Lower Manhattan, officials announced on Friday.

The spokesperson for internal security, Tricia McLaughlin confirmed this decision, saying that driving seen in the video was “unacceptable and under men and women of ice”.

“Our ice forces are held to the highest professional standards and this agent is relieved of current tasks while we are carrying out a complete investigation,” said McLaughlin.

McLaughlin did not appoint the ice agent.

The woman, whose husband was held by ICE, pleaded with the Spanish agent on Thursday, begging him not to take her husband, videos of the exchange show.

The agent continues to tell him “Adios!” Before, he suddenly catches her and pushes her to a wall in front of a group of journalists and defenders. He then pushes her to the ground.

The two children who cry the woman surround their mother while the ice agent orders his colleagues to remove her from the building.

The mother, identified by Propublica like Monica Moreta-Galarza, was briefly hospitalized. She told Propublica that she was looking for asylum for her family when she had been attacked.

“On [in Ecuador]They beat us there too, “she said in Spanish.” I didn’t think I came here to the United States and the same thing would happen to me. “”

The attack videos were shared on social networks, generating strong criticism across the city.

The city controller Brad Lander, who was arrested twice by the ice for refusing to leave 26 Federal Plaza, was one of the many elected officials and defenders of immigration who displayed the 41 -second clip of the incident on X.

“She had not touched her. She did not threaten a threat,” wrote Lander. “She had to be taken to the hospital.”

Lander said on Friday that it was “grateful” that measures were taken to put the ice agent’s touch.

“When we say insistently, there are limits to cruelty that people will support. Even Trump’s ice cannot escape this indefinitely,” Lander wrote. “But let’s be clear: the lawless action of ice agents takes place every day. Ms. Moreta-Galarza’s husband had just been removed. They are always separated – like several thousand other families. ”

Also Friday, representative Dan Goldman and Lander returned the ice agent in question to the American prosecutor General Pam Bondi and Jay Clayton, the American prosecutor of the South district, for crime prosecutions.

“Throughout the country, ice agents – often masked and unidentified – are waiting outside the immigration courts to tear off non -violent immigrants who are going through our immigration system in the right way,” said Goldman. “Yesterday, during one of these arrests, an ice agent violently assaulted a woman in front of her two children.”

The two Pols said that the ice officer, acting “under the color of the law”, used excessive physical strength by throwing the young mother on the ground, depriving her of her right to the fourth amendment to be free of searches and unreasonable crises.

On September 18, Lander and 10 other local elected officials were arrested at 26 Federal Plaza after trying to inspect the inhuman conditions in which migrants were held there.

Politicians were arrested after asking for access to the 10th floor detention area where hundreds of migrants were held by ice agents after attending the hearings of the courts on adjacent floors.

In addition to Lander, the group included members of the Marcela Mitaynes assembly, Emily Gallagher, Jessica Gonzalez-Rojas, Claire Valdez, Tony Simone, Robert Carroll and Steven Raga and State Sens. Julia Salazar, Jabari Brisport and Gustavo Rivera.

Lander and the other interior orders received federal summons for crimes alleging that they had blocked access to entries, homes and other zones, and sentenced to appear in court on November 18.
