What to expect from Amazon’s big fall hardware event on Tuesday

Amazon is organizing its autumn material event 2025 on Tuesday, September 30, and it could be a crowded show. The company’s invitation has some not so subtle advice on new echoes and a new Kindle. It will also be the next major Amazon product event for Panos Panay, which joined Amazon in 2023 to lead its teams of devices and services after a long career at Microsoft, helping to launch products like the Surface range.
Amazon has taken big swings under the direction of Panay, launching a series of new Kindle products last year – including the first color Kindle – and announcing its Alexa Plus AI assistant. What’s going on? Here’s what we think you can expect.

At least a new Echo product
Amazon’s invitation seems to tease two The products with the emblematic Ring Blue Echo of the company, so it seems that we will get new Echo smart speakers of a certain kind during the show. Which ones, however?
A new standard echo seems to be a safe bet, because the company has not released it since 2020. Perhaps it is the one at the top left of the teaser of the Amazon event. The top right shape is a bit like an echo studio, which is also due to an upgrade. He was refreshed for the last time in 2023.
I may be totally out of basis with my assumptions, but if you shop for new smart speakers and I am already invested in the Alexa and Amazon Echo ecosystem, you may want to wait to see what Amazon reveals during this event before buying something new.
This is easier to disentangle from the invitation of the Amazon event: one of the images is a color version of the Kindle logo. But hidden in the corner of the image is an index that Amazon could announce a color version of the Kindle scribe: Tiny Text in the corner understands the words “with” and “trap of a pen”.
Amazon announced the first scribe, an ENK E device the size of a tablet that goes with a stylus in 2022, and it published a second generation version last year. But both lacked a color screen, which seems to be the next natural upgrade.
A Reddit user recently shared images of a Kindle prototype which is apparently a little smaller than the Kindle of the 11th generation and has a brand “Kindle Petit Color”. The prototype also has colors that are better than last year’s colors, says the user. The first Colorsoft had a rocky launch due to a discoloration problem affecting certain units that Amazon was to address. I have a weaker confidence in it, however, because Amazon very recently launched a cheaper Kindle Colorleoft without some of the features of the Colorsoft Signature publishing, such as wireless load.
New TV equipment and potentially a new television operating system
The lower corner to the left of the invitation has an image that looks like a TV, suggesting that Amazon will announce new television equipment. But the biggest news on television could be Vega OS, a replacement operating system for its fire televisions which is not based on Android, and the operating system could be launched this week, according to Lowpass’ Janko Roettgers.
Vega OS is already a bit of a secret of Polichinelle; The Amazon job lists have mentioned it directly, and the company already uses the operating system on Echo Show 5, Echo Hub Smart Displays and the Echo Spot smart clock. If Amazon uses this event to share more on Vega OS on televisions, it would mark a great public revelation for the operating system.
Ads or upgrades of Alexa Plus
Alexa Plus is a major initiative for Amazon because it seems to compete with other Popular Assisters from AI, such as the Openai Chatppt and the Gemini de Google. While Alexa Rébanié is always technically taking place in early access, Amazon could use this event as an opportunity to give an update on this deployment and announce new features to come to the assistant.
Other unexpected material
When David Limp, now CEO of Jeff Bezos’ rocket company, Blue Origin, directed Amazon’s devices and services, the company’s material events were often filled with a dizzying number of new and unexpected products that worked with Alexa, including things like echo pimples, Echo wall watch and even an Alexa microwave. All three are now in the Echo cemetery, but Amazon could again have another surprise product in its sleeves. With Meta All-in on Smart Ai Glasses, Amazon may upgrade its echo frames?
