Do you create a new PC and want to install Linux on it? Do not be satisfied with Timid Linux distributions which prioritize stability on everything else. The distros that pack the most recent equipment support are everywhere if you know where to look for.

Perhaps the most common gateway to the world of Linux is an old laptop that needs a new life. Although there are many Linux distributions that can do so, there is also a subset that promises something different: performance optimization and management of the latest equipment. They generally give you updates of the nucleus (where the material support is activated) shortly after or the same day they become available.

When you think of Linux distributions in mind before, you probably don’t think of Linux Mint. You may want to think again, however. Although it is not promoted as part of the Standard Mint range, an ISO image file “Edge” is provided by the development team, and it is intended for people who perform more recent equipment. According to the ISO Mint Edge documentation, “this image is shipped with more recent components to be able to support the most modern chipsets and material devices.”

At the time of writing the present last The release of mint is mint 22.3. Although the two versions are actively supported, Mint 21.3 will reach the end of life in 2027. The software that you can find on 21.3 is not as new as that of 22.3. So, until the Mint team releases another ISO Edge, you will be behind time in terms of application updates. However, you cannot beat the familiar office pattern of Linux Mint.

Manjaro: a versatile arch

Manjaro Linux is probably the Linux distribution on this list with which I personally have the least experience. I recommend it because it is a popular distribution for the first time which is also delivered with relatively peak updates.

I use the word “relatively” because it retains updates a little for certain tests before putting it to the public in a few weeks. You will appreciate this if you absolutely need to avoid updates of system break. There are also longer than some of the other distributions on this list, and has business support, so you can expect more global stability than others on this list.

Better for

  • Those who want both stability and reasonably new software

Minimum requirements

Storage of 30 GB, 4 GB of RAM, GPU and monitor that support HD graphics

Fedora Linux: reliability and community

Fedora Linux is similar to Manjaro in that he offers relatively peak software but with a solid support structure. He has the support of the Red Hat Company, so you can expect it to stay alive as long -term distribution. You will also benefit from its very active and committed community; If you are having a problem, there are probably other people who have done so or have lived it in support forums and discussions.

Fedora stands out on this list for her many “towers”. You can get Fedora packaged with many office environments and window managers. If you don’t know what it means, don’t worry; Fedora Workstation will probably be very good. But if you realize that you do not like the office experience, take a peak to the many Fedora spins that you can choose while keeping the modern material support base. There are also Fedora laboratories that are packed with many software targeting specific needs. You don’t need a choice with Fedora.

Cachyos is one of the most popular Linux distributions on the stage at the moment, and all thanks to the preference of distribution for progressive looks, modern equipment and conviviality. Its personalized Cachyos kernel is designed to work again material while offering shop optimizations for performance – similar to the Zen kernel that Garuda offers.
