Police officer shot and killed in Kansas

A police officer was killed in the exercise of his duties in Kansas on Saturday evening when he answered a call for domestic violence, confirmed officials at Fox News Digital.
According to the Hays police service, police responded to a domestic violence report on Downing Street in Hays, Kansas.
When the officer arrived at the scene, the suspect opened fire.
The officer was struck and taken to a neighboring hospital. The officer was then deceased. The suspect was declared dead on the scene, the authorities said.

Police said no additional suspect was sought as part of the incident. The officer has not yet been identified.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) has since taken responsibility for carrying out the investigation into the shooting.

“On September 27 at 10:58 pm, the Hays police department responded to a domestic violence call in the 2200 Bloc of Downing Street. Upon arrival, the suspect shot the officer who replied,” the police said in a statement.

“The suspect was declared dead on the scene. The officer was transported to a local hospital and succumbed to the injuries suffered on the scene. There are no additional suspects sought as part of this investigation. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation will take care of the investigation, “said the declaration.
