The median monthly payment for a house purchased in 2024 was $ 2,207, against $ 1,525 for a house purchased in 2021, according to an analysis of Bankrate. The first two years of the pandemic have seen low mortgage rates and home labor policies create a rush in the purchase of the house, which led to a significant increase in the prices of houses. Understanding the fundamental principles of road safety may seem simple, but they are crucial to saving lives. In 2024, around 7,100 pedestrians were killed on the road, and more than 1,000 cyclists have been affected each year in recent years, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Ryan Sharp, Transport Consultant, and Julia Kite-Laidlaw, a defender of pedestrians and cyclists at the National Security Council, share their best backs and not to do for walkers and bikers with Rescue kit::
- 🚲 Look in all directions and turn around before walking or cycling on a road. A driver may not see you in a pedestrian crossing when you transform into intersection.
- 🚲 Always walk on the sidewalk or on a hiking trail. If either an option, walk on the shoulder on the street against traffic so that you can see vehicles coming in the opposite direction and vice versa.
- 🚲 If the bike at night, put the white lights at the front and the red lights at the back of your bike so that the cars can see you.
- 🚲 No music or podcasts in your headphones or watch your phone. This can distract you and prevent you from hearing or seeing traffic coming in the opposite direction.
- 🚲 Use indicators during bicycle. The easiest rules to remember are to keep the left arm directly out for a left turn and the right arm straight for a right turn.
