The authorities responsible for the application of the laws of Michigan continue to sift through the burnt church which was the site of a deadly attack on Sunday morning, leaving four people and the suspect dead and eight other injured victims.
But the police chief of the canton of Grand Blanc, William Renye, said that the authorities did not know any other possible victims.
“We did not finish the search for the church,” said Renye at a press conference on Monday morning. But for the way in which managers know, he added: “Everyone was counted.”
The attack took place on Sunday morning during a church of Jesus Christ of the service of the Latter-day Saints in the canton of Grand Blanc, located about 60 miles northwest of Detroit.
The authorities responsible for the application of laws say that Thomas Jacob Sanford, a 40 -year -old veteran of neighboring Burton, led the deadly attack. Sanford was killed during a shooting with the police.
The FBI, which conducts the investigation, investigation into the attack as an “act of targeted violence”.
Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer thanked the first stakeholders for their rapid actions and said that his heart would break after another mass shooting in the state.
“We have seen armed violence in our schools, our stores, our parades, our festivals and our worship houses. These are places where we will feel connected, to feel safe, to be together,” she said. “But today, this place has been broken by balls and broken glass.”
The Grand Blanc Community School School said that all of its 13 campuses would be closed on Monday, ranging from preschool school to high school.
Who was the attacker?
Sanford served in the US Marine Corps from 2004 to 2008, military officials confirmed at NPR.
Sanford finished a tour of Iraq as part of Operation Iraki Freedom in 2007 and 2008 with a combat logistics regiment. He reached the rank of sergeant, said the Marines.
The law enforcement officials have not speculated on the reason for Sanford for the attack on Sunday.
Renye said on Monday afternoon that investigators had interviewed more than 100 victims and witnesses and continued to conduct interviews to obtain a clearer image of what happened and why.
