Kindle users could be Booktok’s most passionate sect from hacks to maximize the potential of the device, via Turners or Stuff Your Kindle Day Events. And we understand, these are the best e-lisors. In 2024, Amazon published a new range of Kindles that improved on the previous generation, which we already loved.

I tested the Kindle Paperwhite and Spoiler Alert, I think it is better value than the signature edition. However, the SE is not bottomless. Let’s go to the 12th generation Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition, and if you buy it on the Kindle or Kindle Paperwhite.

He has all the advantages of white paper and more

The Kindle Paperwhite and Paperwhite Signature edition is essentially the same device; The Signature edition just adds some special features. You can read all the details in depth on the reasons why we love the paperwhite in my criticism, but here is the TL; Dr.

The PAPERWHITE 2024 KINDLE Signature edition is fast. Compared to the 2021 edition, the difference is noticeable, without hesitation when the pages are turned over. However, the greatest improvement occurs during the switching between the books of your library, because it takes place through the tasks.

With a 7 -inch screen, the SE obtained a slight increase in size, while the resolution of 300 ppi and the maximum brightness of 94 nits remain the same between the generations. That said, the display of this generation is a higher contrast, which makes it clearer and easier to read. In addition, it remains waterproof, perfect for taking the bathtub, the beach or the swimming pool.

I read hundreds of free Kindle books with this application. Here’s how.

Without forgetting that it is delivered with 32 GB of storage. If you think in terms of phones or tablets, this quantity of storage may seem small, but keep in mind that 32 GB has the potential to contain up to 32,000 electronic pounds.

You get all these excellent features in the Kindle Paperwhite and Paperwhite Signature edition, so what makes it unique?

The same long battery life as the Kindle Paperwhite

Kindles are unbeatable on a front: the lifespan of the battery. The Kindle Paperwhite and Signature edition has the same battery life for up to 12 weeks. Signature edition can spend months without loading, but it does not have a longer lifespan than standard paper. The only battery life bonus you get with Signature edition is its wireless load capacities.

The Paperwhite Signature edition has several additional features that come with its $ 40 price increase. For $ 199.99, it comes with an advertising locking screen, 32 GB of storage, an automatic adjustment brightness and a wireless load. In addition, it is available in metallic versions of black, jade and raspberry from Kindle Paperwhite.

No lock screen ads

Among the additional features, the locking screen is the largest draw. On a standard Kindle, the announcements appear on the locking screen, forcing Amazon’s recommendations on you. Not necessarily a dealbreaker, but always very boring. Thus, the Signature edition removes advertisements, freeing you from the chains of capitalism (in a way). However, it comes with a catch. The locking screen without advertising tends to unlock easily when you throw it in a bag, because there is no “swipe to unlock” that compatible AD devices. So, if you are going to get the signature edition, be sure to get a case with a cover.

Self-adjusted brightness

Regarding other features, I didn’t think they were anything to write at home. The automatically adjusted brightness did not work regularly, even when I went from reading next to a lamp to turn off the lights; The automatic adjustment did not start and I always had to lower the brightness manually.

Wireless load

The wireless load, although pleasant, did not feel as the addition the most necessary because you must load the device every three months. In addition, with most devices using USB-C these days, I am never in need of chargers.

32 GB of storage – Is it necessary?

Now we have 32 GB in the room. For an electronic reader, it is an exorbitant quantity of storage. It is double the quantity of the standard Kindle Paperwhite, and once again, 32,000 For storage books. It’s a lot of books. Is this necessary? In my opinion professional, no, especially when you can delete books downloaded from your device and download at any time from the Kindle Cloud. So, if you think you need all this storage, you probably don’t do it, and it’s not worth doing $ 40.

Differences between the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition 12th and 11th generation

If you already have the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition 11th Generation, you may be wondering if it is worth going to the next generation. Short answer: absolutely not. Unless your 11th generation signature edition has given a kick to the bucket, the differences between the 11th generation and the 12th generation are negligible. The two devices have all the premium characteristics of 32 GB of storage, wireless load, automatic adjustment brightness and no locking ad.

The main differences between the two devices are faster treatment and a slightly larger screen. After using both devices, the processing speeds are extremely similar, but the additional 12th generation speed is certainly difficult to notice. The largest screen size is pleasant, but it’s just a difference of 0.2 inch.

All this to say, do not work on upgrade unless your old device is on its last step.

Does the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Signature edition are worth it?

For the average user, I do not think that signature edition is a worthy upgrade. The Kindle Paperwhite is much better for your money, filled with everything you need for the ultimate reading experience. This could be worth doing follies if you have storage problems – maybe you have maximized on 16 GB on previous Kindle models. Otherwise, 16 GB will be fine. And if you are really discouraged by lock screen announcements, the signature edition will be your favorite device.

However, if you are going to swing for the Amazon Kindle Signature Edition, search for sale. At Black Friday 2024, the signature edition was down to $ 154.99, cheaper than the registration price for standard paperwhite.
