Jets’ Sauce Gardner claims refs penalize team due to losing record

New York Jets Half Star Gardner’s Half Sauce targeted NFL’s references after Monday’s defeat against Miami Dolphins on Monday evening, saying the team was penalized during the matches because of their lost record.

The jets had three reversals and 13 penalties in a defeat of 27-21 in Miami. Gardner was among the culprits, pulling a penalty in the third quarter after being called to passing pass.

Addressing journalists after the match, the Star defensive back expressed skepticism about some of these calls.

“I look at football all the time, and I just have the impression – I don’t know if it’s wrong to say – but I think I’m called for more things depending on not winning,” he said, via ESPN. “I watch these winning programs, and there would be blatant things, and it’s not called. They let players play.”

Gardner refer to another penalty that he attracted against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Last week, adding: “I just have the impression that we do not win – that’s what happens if we don’t win. I have the impression that we do not get the calls we should get, and we receive the calls that we should probably not be called.”

Head coach Aaron Glenn was invited to approach Gardner’s comments on Tuesday. He said that the team would send the league certain calls for “clarification”, something he said is not unusual.

But Glenn admitted some questionable calls.

“There are a certain number of calls in this game, I felt that I did not happen that I thought we should have obtained, and I could easily browse them, but I am not. But I know, we had a good amount of penalties on our side that we must clean.”

The errors accumulated for the jets on Monday evening, which led to the first start of 0-4 of the team since 2020, when the team finished 2-14. They advance in a short week to face the Dallas Cowboys Sunday.
