Pirates legend Dave ‘Cobra’ Parker died shortly before Hall of Fame induction

One of the most popular figures in the history of Pittsburgh Pirates, Dave Parker, has died, confirmed the MLB franchise on Saturday. He was 74 years old.

Parker, affectionately known as “The Cobra”, was appointed in seven MLB All-Star teams. He accumulated more than 2,700 strokes and hit 339 circuits during his career in the big league.

He received the honors of the National League MVP for his 1978 season outside competition.

Although he is best known for his mandate with the pirates, Parker also experienced stays with the Reds of Cincinnati, athletics, the Brewers of Milwaukee and two other MLB clubs.

Parker died less than two months before he was to be registered in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in CoopStown, New York.

The pirates honored Parker of a moment of silence before their home match against the New York dishes on Saturday.

Parker was a key element of the winning team of the World Series of Pirates. He was also a member of the 1989 athletics World Series championship team.

The pirates honored their former star, saying that the news of Parker’s death left the franchise “The broken heart”.

Ricky Cobb of Outkick, host of “The Ricky Cobb Show”, took its Super 70s X flow to share its reflections on the loss of parker.

“I am sad that he is not there physically to be registered in CoopStown in less than a month. But I am happy that he is finally secure knowing that he will reside forever among the immortals of baseball. Have your lightest at hand, Saint-Pierre, because smoking one with the cobra will be a privilege. #Rip,” concluded the post.

Parker made public the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease in 2013.
