The public defender of COOK Sharone Mitchell Jr. and a coalition of legal groups and social services organizations petition the chief judge Timothy Evans to make a general order prohibiting the arrests of immigration without a mandate in or around the courthouses.
The judicial facilities have historically been spared with regard to the application of immigration in order to create conditions under which defendants and witnesses are likely to present themselves to the appearances. But the observations of federal immigration agents were increasingly reported in and around the courthouses of the region.
