IDF reservist killed by sniper fire in Gaza City before Gaza deal agreement

Sgt. First Class (res.) Michael Mordechai Nachmani, 26, of Dimona, was killed during fighting in the northern Gaza Strip.

Sgt. First Class (Reserve) Michael Mordechai Nachmani was killed in action while fighting in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military announced Friday.

Sgt. First Class (Res.) Nachmani, 26, of Dimona, served in the 614th Battalion of the Combat Engineer Corps.

Nachmani fell in the northern Gaza Strip. He was killed by a sniper while operating in Gaza City, according toMaariv.

“The great achievements achieved are due to Michael, of blessed memory, and to the heroic IDF fighters who fought with courage and determination against a cruel terrorist organization,” Defense Minister Israel Katz wrote in an X/Twitter message lamenting Nachmani Friday morning.

“On behalf of the entire Ministry of Defense, I extend my deepest condolences to his family and friends, and I strengthen the hands of all IDF fighters and soldiers.”

Nearly 1,000 soldiers fallen since October 7

According to the IDF count, the death of Sgt. First Class (Res.) Michael Mordechai Nachmani, brings the total of soldiers killed on or since October 7, 2023 to 914.

Some 467 of them have been killed since the start of military ground operations in the Gaza Strip on October 27.
