Chief Justice Takes Aim At Politicians Who Use Heated Rhetoric, Raises ‘Threats Of Violence And Murder’ Against Judges

Head judge of the United States Supreme Court, John Roberts, said a warning to politicians on Sunday using stormy rhetoric against judges.
“I have been forced in recent years to make declarations on people on one side of the aisle – their opinions on the judges – and on the other side,” said Roberts on Sunday during the judicial conference of the fourth circuit in Charlotte, in North Carolina. “He is wrapped in the political dispute that a judge who is doing his job is part of the problem.”
“And the danger, of course, is that someone could resume this. And we have, of course, had serious threats of violence and murder of judges simply for doing their job,” he continued. “So I think politicians on both sides of the aisle should keep this in mind.”
Roberts did not name anyone in particular for having used such rhetoric. (Related: vance calls chief judge Robert deeply badly ‘to check Trump while letting the lower courts take place)

In the past, President Donald Trump has publicly criticized the judges, such as the call for the dismissal of judge James E. Boasberg after trying to block expulsion flights to El Salvador, Fox News reported.
Trump described Boasberg as “radiant from the left of a judge” and a “disturbance and agitators” in a social article of truth calling for his indictment on March 18.
“For more than two centuries, it has been established that indictment has not been an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a legal decision. The normal appeal examination process exists for this purpose,” said Roberts in response to Trump’s comments by Fox News.
Roberts condemned Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer in 2020 for declaring that the judges of the Supreme Court Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, who were appointed by Trump, “would pay the prize” after a case dealing with a law on the abortion of Louisiana, according to CNN. Schumer later said that he “should not have used the words [he] used.”
Roberts’ remarks intervened after a man from California pleaded guilty in April for trying to assassinate Kavanaugh judge in 2022. Nicholas Roske, was spotted by two assistant American marshals who kept the judge’s house, reported the New York Post, citing court documents. The 29 -year -old would have come to Kavanaugh house with a pistol, a hammer, a knife, a pepper spray, adhesive tape and links with Zip.
The court documents allege that Roske admitted to having wanted to kill justice and that he was indignant by the report that the Supreme Court would cancel Roe v. Wade, noted the point of sale.
In 2024, the congress voted to spend $ 25 million to increase security at the home of the nine American judges, according to Reuters.
