Chrissy Teigen details Ozempic use after her miscarriage
Chrissy Teigen explains why she turned to Ozempic after losing her son Jack to a miscarriage.
“I had two babies and then I lost a baby a little over 20 weeks ago,” Teigen explained on her “Self-Conscious” podcast. “My body was completely stuck. It was almost like shock.”
Teigen admits that the miscarriage, which took place in 2020, led her into a “deep depression of seeing this pregnant belly without a baby in it.”
“I really let myself go when I was pregnant. So when I lost that baby at 20 weeks, I had probably gained 40 extra pounds that I wasn’t comfortable with.”
The 39-year-old revealed that after pregnancy, the weight gain reminded her of the miscarriage.
“And then all of a sudden, I was finally able to lose the weight that reminded me so much of the baby I lost.”
The cookbook author also highlighted how medication for type 2 diabetes helped her change her relationship with food.
“I felt freed from the prison of thinking about food in a negative way. Good food in a negative way,” she said. “I would consider a lawyer bad. I mean, it’s crazy what he’s done for me, not only physically, but mentally.”
In an interview with People on Saturday, Teigen said she revealed her use of Ozempic because “it’s not about pretending to be perfect, it’s about being open and honest about how you feel to feel better.”
Teigen continued, “Since the beginning of social media, I’ve always wanted people to know that things aren’t as fluffy and beautiful as they seem.”
“I knew it would really resonate and make a lot of people feel a lot better about their families, themselves, their own bodies.”
Teigen and her husband John Legend share four children in addition to the memory of their son, Jack: Luna, 9, Miles, 7, and Esti and Wren, both born in 2023. Wren was born in June via surrogate, six months after Teigen gave birth to Esti.
