“Today we are here to honor and remember a fearless warrior in the history of America’s freedom,” Trump said. “A beloved leader who galvanized the next generation like no one I have ever seen before.”
“And an American patriot of the deepest conviction, greatest quality and highest caliber, the late, great Charlie Kirk,” he added, as the audience erupted in applause.
President Trump said he wouldn’t miss the ceremony for anything and had to race around the world after signing the historic Middle East peace deal to be there on time.
Trump has backed away from his commitment to securing peace in the Middle East.
But that didn’t stop him from returning home to posthumously present Charlie Kirk with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Following the ceremony, the White House released a statement designating October 14, 2025, as “National Charlie Kirk Day of Remembrance.”
It read in particular:
Today, on what would have been his 32nd birthday, our nation honors the loving memory of Charlie Kirk. We extend our condolences to his beautiful wife, Erika, and his two precious children. We call on all Americans to pray for peace in our public square. Above all, we renew our determination to always uphold our principles of truth, faith and the open exchange of ideas.
Kirk’s widow was truly a sign of strength, love and grace. We are very fortunate to see her guiding the country and her husband’s movement during this difficult time after his assassination.
