How to filter out AI on Pinterest
Artists and creators love Pinterest for its ability to fuel creativity. It’s the home page for anyone who needs to think about a theme for a party, create a mood board for the year ahead, or hammer out characterizations for a new cast in a novel they’re writing. However, over the past few years, Pinterest has been flooded with AI garbage.
But this week, Pinterest gave its users the ability to filter AI content, and fans are thrilled.

It’s quite simple to do. Not everyone has access to their mobile app settings, so go to the Pinterest desktop app and follow the following steps to remove as much AI from your Pinterest account as possible.

Step 1: Click on the settings gear
On your Pinterest homepage, click the settings gear at the bottom left.

Step 2: Refine your recommendations
In the settings drop-down menu, click “refine your recommendations”.

Step 3: Click on GenAI Interests
In the small menu under “Refine your recommendations”, click on “GenAI Interests”.

Step 4: Disable GenAI Interests
As Pinterest says, here you can “Choose which GenAI interests you’d like to see in your recommended pins.” Turn off any GenAI interests you don’t want to see and keep the ones you do want to see. When you disable an option, Pinterest will appear with the notification: “Disabled! You will start to see fewer GenAI ideas for [topic] Soon.”

It’s important to note that even if you turn off all GenAI interests, you will still be able to see AI-generated images on your Pinterest. After all, the pop-up says: “You will start to see fewer GenAI ideas for [topic] soon.” Keyword: less.
