If there’s one brand that every long-time Android user knows, it’s HTC. Technically, HTC never disappeared, but most people have forgotten about it. Seemingly out of nowhere, a brand new line of HTC Wildfire phones has just been introduced.
You wouldn’t be alone in wondering what HTC could bring to the table in 2025. The company has done very little in the mobile space over the past five years. A recent leak from GITEX 2025, a technology trade show in Dubai, shows that the company may be planning a comeback with a host of new Wildfire series models. Mobile phone researcher Yasuhiro Yamane shared images of the unannounced devices, which likely means an announcement will be coming soon.
There could be up to six models in total, but the most intriguing of the bunch is a “budget gaming phone.” It sports a flashy rear panel accented in red, you know, because it’s a gaming phone. This device is powered by a Unisoc T765 chipset, paired with a powerful 5,600 mAh battery. The concept of a “budget” gaming phone is a bit strange since the purpose of gaming phones is usually to provide power for intensive gaming.
On the camera front, you have a 50 MP primary sensor on the back and a 16 MP camera on the front for all your selfie needs. Beyond these key specs, details are still very minimal, but the fact that HTC is even trying to offer a budget gaming phone is pretty interesting.
Yasuhiro’s photos show at least four other Wildfire variants, each with a unique rear camera module design, suggesting a far-reaching, if slightly confusing, strategy. There’s even a rugged phone in the mix, something we haven’t seen much of lately.
We’ll keep our eyes peeled over the coming weeks for more information. HTC is clearly not the same company it was in its heyday. Devices like the HTC One M8, the HTC Droid Incredible, and even the very first Android phone, the T-Mobile G1, were incredibly popular. And HTC Sense was the first real Android skin. These new devices could carry the HTC name only.
