President Donald Trump said Saturday that a U.S. military strike this week destroyed a “very large drug-carrying submarine” in the Caribbean, killing two suspected narcoterrorists and capturing two others alive. He posted a video of the strike.
In a statement posted to Truth Social, Trump said the ship was primarily transporting “fentanyl and other narcotics” to the United States on a “well-known transit route for narcotics trafficking.” He claimed the ban helped prevent up to 25,000 overdose deaths in the United States.
“It was my great honor to destroy a very large DRUG SUBMARINE,” Trump wrote. “US intelligence confirmed that this vessel was loaded primarily with Fentanyl… There were four known narcoterrorists on board. Two of the terrorists were killed.
“The two surviving terrorists are being returned to their home countries of Ecuador and Colombia for detention and prosecution.”

Fox News previously confirmed that two survivors were rescued by the US Navy after the strike and were being held aboard a US warship. Trump’s statement is the first official recognition of their identity and nationality.
This is the sixth U.S. interdiction of a ship suspected of drug trafficking since combat operations began in the Caribbean last month. The Pentagon has not publicly named the operation.
Trump first publicly referenced the strike during a meeting Friday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House.
