Google Home Is Getting New Guest Access Options

Google Home makes major modifications to the way people share access to their intelligent devices and settings. The latest version of Google Home gives users more control over who can do what in their intelligent house by introducing a new “member” role which can be adjusted by the user of the administrator.
The role of members allows the main user to define different levels of access for household members and guests. These changes help to solve the common problems with which people face when they share control of their smart homes. This should keep everything safe while giving others access to what they might want.
The new member role operates in parallel with the existing administration role. When someone is invited to join a Google Home, the main user can now choose to give him full access to the administrator or the role of a limited member. What makes the role special member is that it is delivered with two customizable options: “activity” and “parameters”.
If access to the activity is activated, the member can see the activity passed for devices and the house, helping them keep a trace of what happened. If access to the parameters is activated, the member can modify the parameters of the device and manage automation, which gives them more control over the operation of things. In this way, the main user can decide exactly to what extent access is based on the amount of trusting them.
Another new important feature of the Google Home application is the care of children. For the first time, children under the age of 13 (or all local age rules say) can be added to a Google home configuration. To do this, the child must be part of the Google family group, and he can only have the role the member. This means that children can use intelligent house features such as lighting and turning off the lights, playing music or unlocking the doors when they come from school. However, they cannot modify important reception parameters.
This should make smart homes easier to manage for young family members while keeping everything safe and supervised. An administrator has the most control over the configuration of Google Home. They can add, manage or delete other users, deciding who has access to the house. They can also delete the whole configuration of the house if necessary.

Regarding devices, administrators can add or delete them, updating the smart house. They can also share devices and data with other services, which facilitates the connection of different applications. In addition, they can link subscriptions to the domestic account. It is configured so that the administrators have the control they need, but I hope that in the future, we can be able to personalize the quantity of access given more detailed.
This is a very useful update for Google Nest. These types of ways to limit access to others always improve things for those who have the system. Thanks to this update, no major modification is made to the house without the administrator doing it himself.
