CNN Data Analyst Delivers Bad News for Dems About the Schumer Shutdown and Trump’s Numbers – RedState

Democrats are trying to blame the government shutdown on President Donald Trump and Republicans.

Democrats hoped the “No Kings” protests would provide them with some ballast in their fight against Trump. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) hoped to appease the radical left base so he could keep his seat.

The problem with that? The ridiculous “no kings” exercise is now over and we still have no kings. All this did was reveal how Democrats were focused on something that isn’t real, as opposed to the real issue of opening government and doing something for the American people.

Even the media isn’t falling for Schumer’s game, as we noted earlier. ABC’s Jon Karl acknowledged in an interview with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) that it was Democrats who shut down the government.

Additionally, if Democrats thought their actions were going to harm Trump, they should think again. They really won’t like what CNN data analyst Harry Enten has to say about Trump’s shutdown numbers.

Enten explains that not only has support for Trump not declined like it did during the government shutdown during Trump’s first term, but his support has actually increased by one point in popular approval during this twenty-day shutdown so far.

The reason why? The percentage of people who are angry with him is down compared to 2018-2019.

The facts are very clear as to whose fault it is. Trump and congressional Republicans are hammering home this truth about Schumer’s shutdown.

“It doesn’t hurt him at all,” Enten said, saying there was no real reason, at least in terms of popular support, for him to want to back out. He gets less blame, Enten said. And he explained how Trump learned in his first term how to get things done, despite Congressional intransigence. He has signed 210 executive orders so far this year.

Host John Berman had a great line: “He seems to be saying, ‘Congress, don’t you want to do something?'”

Enten finished his sentence: “I will.”

So if Democrats thought they had the influence to force Trump to give them what they want, they don’t. And by embracing their radicals, they simply made themselves look worse. Their popularity was already plummeting, but hey, it can always drop.

Editor’s note: The Schumer ruling is here. Rather than putting the American people first, Chuck Schumer and radical Democrats forced a government shutdown on health care for illegal immigrants. They own that.
