Police identify Wess Roley, 20, as suspect in Idaho firefighter ambush

Police sources have identified Wess Roley, 20, such as the suspect in the attack on elite shooters against Idaho firefighters, according to the American BBC partner CBS News.
Two firefighters were killed and a third injured Sunday after a shooter shot them when they arrived at a fire in Canfield Mountain, just north of the heart of Alene.
The authorities believe that Roley deliberately lit the fire to attract the first stakeholders in the region.
A tactical police team later “located a deceased man” – considered the shooter – near where the attack took place. The authorities have not yet commented on a reason or reveal how Roley died.
Roley moved from Arizona to Idaho in 2023 to work for her father’s trees company, said his mother in an article on social networks.
In a shared update in October 2024, his mother wrote that he “made life in Idaho”.
Police think Roley was responsible for the fire. “It was a total ambush. These firefighters had no chance,” said Sheriff Bob Norris at a new conference.
“We lost a heart firefighter from Alene, and we lost a firefighter from the fire and rescue of the County of Kootenai.”
A third “was fighting for his life, but is in a stable state,” he said.
The first report of a fire in the mountain community was made around 1:21 pm PST (21:21 BST), which was followed 40 minutes later by reports that firefighters were slaughtered, said Norris.
The fire increased to 20 acres after its first signaling and continued to burn on Sunday evening, said Norris.
More than 300 agents responsible for the application of the laws of the authorities of the city, the county, the states and federals to the shooting, including two helicopters with elite shooters on board.
Norris said the suspect used a high power sports rifle to quickly shoot at the first stakeholders, the uncertain officers of the number of assaults involved.
After a one -hour shots dam, the suspect was found using mobile phone data.
It was not clear if he committed suicide or had been affected by an officer, said Norris.
