Some Batavia city employees will receive a 3.5% raise in 2026, following approval by the City Council at its meeting Monday.
The raises will apply to non-collectively bargained employees, paid on-call fire department members and members of the fire department’s Disaster Emergency Services Agency, according to a memo from city Human Resources Director Wendy Bednarek included in Monday’s meeting agenda.
City employee positions and their corresponding pay levels can be found in documents included in Monday’s agenda. They also outline the salaries set for on-duty members of the Batavia Fire Department and for members of the department’s Emergency Disaster Services Agency.
On Monday, the council also approved eliminating the city’s water and wastewater superintendent position and changing the city’s position titled Software Deployment Analyst to Enterprise Applications Specialist, according to Bednarek’s memo.
The consumer price index stood at 2.9% in August, according to the memo, and is expected to be between 2.5% and 3.0% for 2026.
According to the memo, municipal employees represented by unions negotiated salary increases for 2026.
