Even Stone’s sandals, a strappy black leather mule, are similar to the emerald green sandals Paltrow’s character, Estella, wore in the modern adaptation of Charles Dickens’s novel that was set in New York City. The exact look is from Donna Karan’s spring-summer 1996 collection, and was likely procured from the brand’s archives just for Stone.

The look is the definition of “timeless,” existing on a plane outside the trend cycle. Leave it to Stone (and Paltrow, for that matter) to prove that the classics never cease to be fashionable, even if two decades have passed.
And if you really can’t get enough of the chocolate brown trend, good news: This particular shade of green looks great when paired with a warm espresso color. As the weather gets cooler, that brown leather jacket you’ve had your eye on would be a perfect layer over the lightweight silk.… Just saying!
